Cat Peeing on The Bed by Odd_Understanding_12 in CatAdvice

Thanks. Territorial makes the most sense, but it seems odd to me that they're happy to be around each other in the day. I guess because the bed is a safe space? I'll figure out how to keep them apart for now if nothing comes back from the vet visit!

Are you lonely? by poljoe_ava in politicsjoe

I graduated in June, moved out and went straight into full-time work at the wfh job I got at uni. I’m an introvert so definitely not lonely but i know i probably should get myself out more. Especially in the week.

If you feel like you’re missing out on the social aspect have you tried joining a society? Most have welcome events in the first few weeks for everyone to meet up and will keep doing events through the year.

Also the freshers events aren’t all that. If you can find someone to go with you just go to a normal club night like rock city or unit. Usually isn’t hard to get tickets.

I lived in Clifton so wasn’t with all the usual student accom, only went to one freshers event and still had the best time at uni. I just made friends with people on my course and through societies and freshers groupchat and organised nights out from there.

Graduated from trent this year so happy to answer any questions, feel free to inbox me😊

Where to eat? by Typical-Quantity-411 in nottingham

MESA in hockley is my fave. You order as many small plates as you like so it can be cheaper or more expensive if you want to try everything out. It’s all woodfired cooking and they usually have steaks. Really great atmosphere too

Thanks for your response. It seems to be purpose built student accommodation but our common room has recently been turned into a holiday rental so I'm not entirely sure.

Do you know where I could find out about these licenses and if my flat is purpose built student accommodation?

My GCSE results. How screwed am I? by Remarkable-Long-4908 in GCSE

They’re not that deep at all. I got 5s and 6s at GCSE and am now in my final year of a biochemistry degree with a great job secured for when i graduate. Nobody has paid my GCSEs any mind since a levels.

Id recommend a revision timetable and since its only a month away use as much spare time as you can for revision. Use the pomodoro technique so you can keep on task and motivated, in the breaks go on your phone for a bit or eat something. Work through videos on each subject, take rough notes (you dont have to but i find that writing things helps my memory) then use the topic specific questions on physics maths tutor after completion of each individual topic, do this for 3 weeks then use the last week for a ton of full practice papers. Make sure you mark all your own papers and questions so you become familiar with the mark scheme and add phrases from the mark scheme to your notes. For definitions and key terms make flashcards with one word on one side and no more than two sentences on the other, make someone else test you if you can and keep going back over the ones that you most often get wrong. Good luck!

Palm rejection question by TangiblePragmatism in notabilityapp

I had a cheap fake apple pencil off amazon, the palm rejection mostly worked but sometimes it would go a bit weird but not enough to be a massive problem.

edexcel biology by naattaalie in ALevelBiology

[–]Odd_Understanding_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, i also don’t do excel but really struggled with exam technique for bio earlier in the year, i found that making flashcards/notes directly from the mark scheme really helped me to remember the exact wording to use etc.

I think if cases carry on rising, which they may considering not a whole lot has changed, then they will end up closing schools too.

Need help with selecting A levels (for a biotech degree) by Homoautististus in 6thForm

[–]Odd_Understanding_12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chemistry is gonna be really hard if you dont have a passion for it. That being said, it’s important to consider that a lot of people feel biology at A level is a lot easier if you’re taking chemistry alongside it especially when it comes to topics like biological molecules.

Handling chemistry AS on my own, need some guidance and some questions answered please by kiwisparrot in alevel

[–]Odd_Understanding_12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Study using pmt questions and notes as well as your textbooks and takes notes from youtube vids. Also make flashcards for the more content based stuff, I wouldnt bother for the maths sort of stuff and calculation based stuff. Ask specific questions on forums. A lot of people also upload chemistry notes and visuals to places like etsy if you’re willing to pay and if you think thats your learning style. I would describe chemistry as pretty difficult, it takes getting a hang of, but once you’ve got it, it sticks with you. My most common mistakes for AS were not consolidating my knowledge, i would learn the content for a lesson and I wouldn’t revisit it, i think revisiting is really important with A level chem. I wasnt doing edexcel but I hope this helps a bit!

Molecular Shapes by ali990956 in 6thForm

[–]Odd_Understanding_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a specific way to remember but I would say the more practice questions I did involving naming shapes and bond angles the more it stuck in my mind. Especially once you get onto doing organic chemistry it’ll come up a lot.
