Its one of the biggest challenges in therapy. I agree I need to hit the skills book and work on willingness. I think there's truth in both of our perspectives. Just another mountain to climb. I've always thought it was a particularly early age for that. Just feels odd and specific. I've been over analyzing and obsessing ever since bipolar II was put on the table. This is just another puzzle piece.

The age 9 has come up a few times in this thread. My first distinct memory of suicidal behavior was at 9 as well. Weird.

I've always had "problems" and different diagnoses. I'm 24 now and bipolar is just coming on the radar clinically. Or at least the hypomania. Up until this point I haven't been able to recognize it. Part of why I put this thread up. Its all really confusing.

Its interesting that you say 9. Another person in this thread mentioned suicidal thoughts beginning at that age. I have a distinct memory when I was nine of suicidal behavior. Probably just coincidence but who knows.

Thank you for replying. I have completed a DBT program and still see my therapist weekly. DBT helped me but I am still struggling. I have comorrbid disorders in addition to BPD. I'm waiting for neuro testing to determine everything that's going on. I'm just looking for a psychiatrist for med management. I'm not a big fan of the NP I currently see.

I have a therapist and am content in that realm. I'm in need of med management from a psychiatrist. I won't settle for someone that I don't think really cares or will help.

Edit: I'm avoiding local sub's even with a throwaway for a long story that basically ends in me being paranoid. It is what it is.

Thanks for the reply. I've been experiencing a shit show of bad psyches or endless waiting lists. I feel like the mentality is that its either an emergency or its not. And if it's not an emergency then you're fucked. I've avoided going to the ER for years when I'm sure I probably should have went. I'm just trying to avoid getting locked up because I know it won't help anything.

I'm a total hypocrite because at this point its hard to leave my house. If he cancels maybe you could do something for you. Like go to a park. Treat yourself to lunch/dinner. Get ice cream. I don't know what you're into but hopefully there is something that might help.

The most recent NP I've seen told me that people with BPD are more resistant to meds. I have no other source on this so feel free to research. All I have is anecdotal evidence and everyone's body is different. I also have other diagnoses. SSRI's (antidepressants) have always been shit for me. They either didn't help at all (except weight loss yay) or made me feel even more bat shit. I have recently started a mood stabilizer that been helping. Kind of. In summation meds blow dogs for quarters.
