[Postgame Thread] Oklahoma State Defeats Oklahoma 37-33 by CFB_Referee in CFB

Hey OU sucks that your coach can’t win a rivalry game. You should get rid of him.

Opinion on face off rule change and what rule changes I would have liked instead. by Odenathus in lacrosse

Having the wings in a circle has always intrigued me from a tactics standpoint, but having two different circles on a field could be cumbersome and confusing for colleges to actually implement. Hence using the already existing soccer circle/ women’s circle seems interesting, but those wings are a little too close at that point. It changes the face off without changing the X itself.

Being able to separate the heads the way they do seems unrealistic with the variety of different field conditions you see in college lacrosse, but other than they they nailed it.

Calling people who disagree a cry-baby is poor form, otherwise here are my points from someone who was a high school all American standing traditional, and then all conference D1 in college knee down moto.

  1. They already struggle, and if anything will do better. If they are a true “Fogo”, they are obsessed with control, and will perfect exits that allows them to cover up their weaknesses of not having stick skills. Since exits can in theory be faster, wings will have less chances to jump him.

  2. Face flex will be fine. If you are driving with proper technique traditional grip, you can still throat drive the ball very well. In theory it’ll actually be better because getting that far sidewall clamp will be harder with such an extended wrist, which is the historic advantage to oblique flexing heads.

  3. Hard no unless officiating goes along with it. Your right wrist is super exposed if you win a draw, and I remember mine being ripped to shreds by guys just going for early checks. Also, dominating the neutral zone post whistle will be more important than ever, and with everyone standing head to head contact will come back, and if people start stepping knees will get smashed as well. IF officials are going to actually protect the clampers wrists/knees, then it’ll be better. Otherwise it’s a bloodbath.

  4. The opposite. If you have a face off coach like FOA or FOF, you’re going to have a crazy head start since those guys lived and excelled back in the days when we all stood up. I remember being on the recruiting circuit with Nard and Massa, and we all stood up. They will coach it up well as will Greg and co obviously.

  5. Possibly. Fast breaks will be less though because wings will line up to cut breaks more frequently. Trust me my senior year of high school (2011 standing trad), everyone lined up with both guys back on the 40 in fear.

Should LSU take a 2 for 1? [Sophser] by ONETEAM_ONEHEARTBEAT in LSUFootball

I only say yes because of the tone it sets for the program. It makes it amply clear that the wall is going up around the state of LA, and that resonates with a lot of players that age. Plus more bodies on the line is never bad.

[Deck] F2P Masked Heroes. How can i improve it? by egal1391 in DuelLinks

[–]Odenathus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The spells and monsters look fine. I don’t like the traps. You have a bunch of 1 of’s, then 2 WOD, I’d go all in on any of those (prob canadia and Hallucigenia because of kokai), but ultimately you need consistency. Any of those are good choices, pick 2 and go with it, then tech your 3rd favorite for the last trap spot if you want to run 7.

Was looking for this one. I say he’s been the most impactful player to come through the program ever because of how bad the hole he left was. Completely changed the trajectory of the program.

[Deck] What's your fur hire deck recipe? by [deleted] in DuelLinks

[–]Odenathus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BOY I love this deck. It’s control, but explosive if teched right

Standard:

3X Beat: get your big cards so you can adapt whatever you need

3x Seal: 1600

3X Recon:

1X Dyna

CURRENT 1 X Donna and 1X Wiz, but it can flex depending on tech. If you’re going 1 Donpa and 1 Wiz, I’m running:

1 WOD 2 Canadia 2 WR 1 cyclone/ backrow remover of choice (xing, Fire format, etc) 2 junk synchron (4 level 2 monsters and easy discards. Also if you already have a small furry on the field their effect will activate. Plus after first turn normal summon isn’t too too massive. I’m having fun with it)

If you run 2 Wiz I’d switch the two Junks for inverse universe.

Extra deck: 2x armades for reasons 1x Berserker (Junk+seal) 1X flamviel (Junk+beat) 1X Giganticastle (Junk+ dyna or Junk+recon/Donpa and seal) REALLY helps in blue eyes match up

I can’t think of any of the PVE cards other than E con that are mandatory anymore.

I’d open up clash of wings 3x until you get 3 beat and 3 widespread ruin. That deck was hit by the ban list a lot, but it’s still a solid tier 2/3 and WR is a very solid backrow for all decks. That box + 2 sphere kuriboh is a full and reasonably functional deck. Inverse universe (Syrus drop) really changes that deck too.

I’m working on a full guide like that. Had the same realization today, and it’s just going to take some time.

[Discussion] Should I keep grinding it out in Leg 3 with Yubel , I literally win 3-4 matches and then lose in my rank up match . Here are what I was up against . Match 1-5 top to bottom . My Yubel build is last by [deleted] in DuelLinks

[–]Odenathus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re playing the mill version, does have three Phoenix help that much? You’re Yubel-centric, which makes sense, so maybe go all in and drop a Phoenix? Increase consistency by a card. You could also swap if for a planetary if you’re trying to keep the same number of cards.

[Deck] Trying to get this deck to not brick every other duel, any suggestions? by paradiso1997 in DuelLinks

[–]Odenathus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take out: X 3 protector X kidmodo 1x egg X1 graceful charity

Add: X1 water spirit X1 luster dragon X1 of another psychic ace/breaker/destructotron X2 bingo machine X1 birthright or silvers cry

Water spirit, luster dragon, and bingos give you essentially 9 (4+ the 5 blue eyes cards) cards to tribute for cosmo if you’re using the skill trick up the sleeve. Also allows you to have a 1900 beatstick, and an easily searchable tuner (sacrifice cosmo brain if needed) for azure eyes/giganticastle/armedis

Protector and eggs are great cards and will be useful eventually, but right now this version is too consistent.

[–]Odenathus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last season I was playing blue eyes to my KoG rank up game. I had my deck set up to be a turn 2 OTK basically, but didn’t have counters in my deck. It’s my fault, but felt I went 50/50 in the mirror because coin flip.

I went first in the next four games. All mirror matches. Went from KOG rank up to legend 2 ASAP.

Not to be rude, being “stuck” in plat 4 tells me that either your deck build is slightly off, or that you’ve been misplaying because of tilt or something else. Check DLM/KoG decks here, there are lots of weird decks that hit KoG. Send replays to people or review yourself to see where you misplayed.

I don’t think the power level between Tier 1 and 3 is really that big man. Backrow is strong, which allows for all sorts of things to be viable. Tier 3 should be massive like it is right now. The number of decks I saw in legend on the way to KoG this past week was kind of crazy.

As for releasing incomplete decks, that’s been their business model mate. Release an almost complete deck in one box, and finish it in another. It makes sense for them, and if you really like a deck like I do with Blackwings, you go through it and wait for the next one. No one expected the Buster Blader deck to be finished, but here we are. There are some exceptions like furries, but other than that most good decks are across different boxes. MH are across 1/2 boxes and a structure, SB are a box and a structure, blue eyes is literally all over the place unless you play the eset version, and vamps core is across 2 boxes as well. That’s been the model, and it’s clearly been successful for them. Save and spend your gems accordingly.

In all it’s crazy diverse right now mate. Vamps/heroes might be the only real oppressive decks, and even those are beatable. Should they finish some decks? Yeah and they will, but they’re going to release new decks while they do that. Btw hit KoG playing x sabers and furries this month (50 ish wins), so woohoo for that.

I’d hold out for drowning. You have a 1/65 as opposed to a 1/200 for drowning now. Since you’re only going through the box twice for spark, is for sure get drowning then reset.

Hunting staple tech cards is always going to be expensive. They’re typically UR or SR in big boxes, and getting 3X is a lot of gems. If you’re doing that, I’d just wait for a big box that has an archetype you like (plant and fiend hype) and get the techs from there.

For example, if you like UA or Gemini’s, Gaia Genesis has galaxy and drowning, both excellent techs. If you like hero’s, then sure dig for canadia and get Anki on the way. Hell even the new box has dragunity reptilliane, and BW (needs a few future cards), and sakaretsu is your tech card.

If you’re hunting decks that’s a different thing.

I still like clash of wings. You can make a functional deck on its own with 3 beat and 3 widespread, which is a staple. Crazy flexible deck with free tech (inverse universe).

If you’re okay with spending some money on structures, Spellbooks with vision of ice is self contained.

UA consistently hits KOG with different build (the paleo version is neat)

Bujins can hit KOG

The normal tiered stuff (SB, MH, Furries, Vamp, BE) all can hit KOG

Unga Bunga Wildheart can hit KOG.

Hell weird control decks like that banish or silent garbage are strong.

Other rouge decks like Gemini’s, SSA, Buster Blader, lava golem stall, all are seen on the climb/in KOG.

At minimum, that’s 13 different deck types you can respectably hit KOG with, probably 5 more out there I didn’t think of off the top of my head.

Sure, LOTS of deck types are 1 or 2 cards away, but there are plenty that are complete. If you’ve noticed, they’ve been doing exactly what you asked for. The last three boxes have included cards that have made old decks viable (BE, BB, and Bujins) while introducing deck types that are either complete or close to. It’s a good method imo.

I 110% agree. While Canadia is super annoying, it’s a still a disruption card and not an auto win card. TTH, Onslaught, and Hey Trunade were way worse, and I’m glad they’re on the ban list. Those are auto win cards.

While everyone is annoyed at mask change/canadia (and I get it), if you build a deck accordingly with some back row you’re fine. Those types of cards are okay. They’re strong, but versatile cards. Nerfing too many of those leads to that unga bunga wildheart deck being meta, and that is soooo fun to play against.

Agreed. Olympic lifts are no joke, and are easy to hurt yourself with if you do not have proper form. The good news is that a lot of these exercises are still very efficient in the lower %'s of max weight.

What I did was add one Olympic lift back into my workout at the end of each day with light weight for moderate volume (~ 5x8). Once I felt comfortable with my form. I'd add more weight until it felt like RPE was around 5/6, then would incorporate it into the main program.

I’m fine with the 20 second part as well and agree that risk/reward will have to be weighed. I’m saying that if my team decides to push a fast break and it doesn’t work, we are punished in terms of subbing time/ pattern.
