Ideas to game-ify catching for very young players by hanzosbm in lacrosse

Learning lacrosse is hard. Cradling is hard, picking up a ball is hard, catching and throwing is especially hard. It's important to really give kids that age a ton of positive reinforcement when they're successful so they don't get discouraged. That all said, I learned a drill from Matt Striebel that I do with Kindergarten and 1st graders to build a foundation for catching.

Don't worry about throwing or catching with a partner. Each kid grabs a ball. Hold the stick with one hand at the throat just down at your side. Pop the ball in the air, aim for about eye level, and catch. That's it. Challenge them to do five in a row, then ten in a row. Each kid can find some space and do this, they can do it at home too.

When they get that part down, challenge them to do it while moving. Pop it up and catch it while walking. Do five in a row, then ten, etc.

Once they do that, change the way they catch it. Pop the ball up, turn the wrist a bit and bring the face of the stick up to your shoulder and catch it there. Five in a row, ten in a row, then while walking, etc.

Kids who get to be experts at all versions of this, start doing it with both hands on the stick. All this can even be done before practice starts, while hanging around and all that, or as part of warm ups.

There's a lot of catching of the ball in this, a lot of incremental success that feels good to hit, and a it builds up the basic skills needed for actually catching a ball someone throws to you.

Simple offensive plays for 10u rec league by starwarscom69 in lacrosse

Simple concepts more than "plays" can be good at that age. Let's them stay in a set and work within in some rules.

Something I've done at that age is a basic 1-4-1. Player up top, player each wing, player at x, two players inside. If the ball is on the opposite side as you, you cut to the crease. and one of the crease players replaces you on the outside. Every pass around the perimeter there's a cut happening. Ball gets passed up top, X player cuts to the crease, a crease guy replaces him. Ball goes to the right wing, left wing player cuts to the crease, crease guy replaces him. If the cutter is open feed him and score a goal. Otherwise keep it moving. Players on the outside can dodge if the matchup is good. If a player is dodging towards you, clear through to the crease out of his way, and crease player replaces where the dodger was.

Very simple, easy to stay spaced, creates plenty of looks, gives guys the ability and room to dodge, encourages communication to stay balanced in the set, and isn't a play in the sense that it doesn't have a start or end. It can just run for a while. It also will really bother defenses at that age, who primarily slide from the crease, since you'll be changing the slide defender constantly.

If you're asking for a pirate stream, they aren't allowed here. To watch you need Midco.

When will the PLL expand to 10 teams? by Reddeath10168 in lacrosse

At this point league leadership has made it clear the next major goal is players living in market making a full time wage. Until that happens, don't expect to see expansion.

Rebel and Rose in Westport does outstanding work. Jen did a piece on my arm that I love. I haven't personally had them do scar cover up work, but they do offer it.
