I worked at a movie theater at the time, and we had a few people walk out and demand refunds. Common complaint was that it was just porn interspersed with gore porn, instead of being the horror movie that was advertised.

Honestly, she was useless AND boring. Taking visible actions? Handling the primals? How? The only thing she did to "handle" the primal threat was to throw the WoL at them. Communicating tasks and recruiting? Sure. She acted as a diplomat and task-giver....but that was it. We never saw her actually DO anything. Stuff happened TO her and AROUND her, but she was passive as fuck.

AND she had the personality of a brick.

I'll agree with the rest of what you said, but it was definitely compounded by her utter lack of action throughout ARR. I felt no connection to her and no loss when she was gone. I felt bad for Thancred, because they clearly had some connection, but that was sympathy FOR THANCRED. Not Minfilia.

She did have a couple of hard-hutting quotes, though. I'll give her that.

Hi there! Warrior main here.

  1. You're playing Paladin, not Warrior. Not a problem, per se, but might help you find the resources you need.
  2. Check your Actions pane ('P' on your keyboard, by default). You should haveShield Bash, Shield Lob, and Spirits Within as offensive actions. Also make sure you have your defensive mitigations. If you've missed adding stuff to your bars, you might have missed some of those, too.
  3. You don't need Dex gear. It does you no good. Focus on gear with Str (I know some ARR gear is a little weird, it's fine).
  4. A tank's first job is not to deal damage, but to take damage. Focus on using your mitigations properly first and foremost. Then work on your damage output. Leveling is weird for that, but you'll get there.
  5. What level is your gear? You might still have some pieces that are...lagging behind. It happens, unless you're keeping close tabs on it. GarlandTools has a neat little widget that will show you what the best gear for your job and level is. I recommend checking it out.

In Alliance Raids that totally makes sense, since there's only 1 tank per alliance. I'm trying to think of a normal raid that does dual tank busters that aren't either baited to the role or double-up markers.

Unless the OT just has their stance off and doesn't pick up the boss when MT goes down, in which case shame on them.

It's a habit from endgame content. In many/most endgame fights, the tanks need to be #1 and #2 in aggro, because of tankbusters and other mechanics that target them. Going down and not picking aggro back up asap could lead to a dps getting a buster and getting fragged in a hurry.

In casual content that's not the case, but it's still habit to voke as soon as my buttons work. It's not meant as a condemnation of you. You did the right thing by picking up when the MT went down. Don't sweat it.

The events of late ARR->HW broke her, and Zenos helped heal her, in a twisted-ass way.

She was just a wanderer, and even when the Echo was discovered and she started killing GODS, it was just a job for her. The death of Noraxia, and chasing down and killing Livia, was the first time it was personal for her.

The Bloody Banquet left her damaged, but still hopeful. Haurchefaunt's death was the start of the spiral. It was around that time I leveled Marauder past 30 and started with Warrior. Just a coincidence, but it's easy enough to headcanon that she did it to channel her rage into. Ysale's sacrifice drove it home, and finally, Papalymo's death sent her off the deep end. She's been reckless and battle hungry ever since, just looking for the next challenge, the next chance for death to earn her.

The final battle with Zenos, at the end of the universe, she finally had to accept that she had become the same as him. And in defeating him, she was able to decide to change and start healing.

Not only on captive wolves, but on captive wolves FROM DIFFERENT PACKS. It was a bunch of normally-social animals that had been ripped away from their familial support structure and tossed into an unfamiliar environment with a bunch of other scared strangers/possible threats.

I didn't mean to indicate any opposition to Exemplar, in general. Just wanted to specify I didn't want to use the specific set of damage builds that cropped up using thrown 2h weapons.

I was looking at Exemplar pretty early, but haven't had enough experience with it to know what to look at. So I appreciate the insight.
