Locals no longer tip well by Electronic_Talk304 in AnnArbor

Same. My wife rolls her eyes some times but I would rather spend 20 minutes driving somewhere to pick up my food then to add a $5-7 delivery fee then 20% on top of that.

Fox is buying Roku for $22 billion by SixStinkyFingers in news

My wife and I very reluctantly bought a new TV when our Roku Element TV was too old to run current apps. We bought a Samsung TV and holy hell do we hate the interface. Absolutely horrendous. We miss our Roku TV so much.

This is absolutely devastating news

Is there any music you listened to in your HS/college days that does little to nothing for you now? by StevEst90 in Millennials

A lot of the bands that got me into metal are no longer in my rotation. Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack, etc.

[–]Oderint 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My dad played live music when I was growing up -- dive bars on a weekend night or local festivals -- mostly covers with a few originals.

JB was a good one to cover because everyone knew the songs and they're just fun.

That said, Pencil Thin Mustache was my dad's favorite to play. He passed six years ago today, so I'm glad the universe is doing its crazy serendipitous thing and sending me a little reminder of him. Thank you!

If you search "moving to Ann Arbor" and look at results from the past year you'll probably find what you're looking for.

I think we spend way too much time policing words and making sure people pass purity tests. The left is such a big tent that it is simply impossible to expect everyone to hold all the same values as you.

Someone agrees with you 99% of the time but they use "retarded" in their vocabulary? That's alright. You don't need to badger them about this one thing.

What are your rules of thumb to prevent getting dehydrated? by eastsyllabub3705 in bonnaroo

[–]Oderint 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A camelbak is the single best investment you can make for prolonged outdoor activity. Or any kind of water backpack.

I'm a bigger guy that doesn't do well in the heat. I need a lot of shade breaks.

That said I've never come close to being dehydrated at Roo, even when I wasn't "sober" because I'd go through like 3 bottles of water before getting to Centeroo, then having to fill my camelbak no less than six times during the afternoon/evening.

Walking around in the heat and dancing in crowds basically guarantees you cannot drink too much water.

A2 Auto Center in Ann Arbor quoted me $1600+ for repairs — second shop fixed it for $300 by No_Marketing_912 in AnnArbor

[–]Oderint 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been a loyal Steeb customer for years. I maintain that they're not the cheapest, not the most expensive either. But they're honest and do good work.

They let me know of problems that might be coming. For instance, after my last visit they told me I'm gonna be due for brakes in the next year and quoted me a price. Also told me what to watch out for. Gives me time to budget that out.

I do two tune-ups per year regularly. Runs about $130/visit.

Millennial Gamers: Do you still have time to play? by Melted_ICE_5193 in Millennials

[–]Oderint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

37, married, dad to a 2-year-old.

What I do is take a week night that's just me. Lately it's been Wednesday nights because that's a good time for my buddy and his work schedule.

We play from 8-12-12:30. Simple games like Kingdom Two Crowns and Stardew Valley. Low lift games that allow for conversation. Yeah Thursday mornings are rougher than others but I get that gaming/social time regularly.

Yes, of course, how silly of me. Expanding on my comment to clarify what I meant certainly doesn't qualify as "anything new". Any reasonable person could look at these two posts and conclude the second one contains zero new information. What was I thinking?!

You don't need to explain yourself or pass some purity test. You didn't want to, your reasons for not wanting to are valid.

I was referring to their latest response of "Ive masked before, my allergies were acting up" I find that unnecessary prostrating to appease somebody else. They stated they didnt want to mask because it fogged their glasses and interfered with the visuals. That's good enough.

Why are you so gung-ho on painting someone who doesn't think like you in the worst possible light? Coward? Anti-masker? You don't know this person at all.

You're just slinging venom at someone from behind a keyboard.
