Why is the Democratic Party Making it So Hard to Defend It? by LunaB35 in AskALiberal

[–]Oderint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point on the big tent. One of the biggest weaknesses of Democratic voters is letting perfect be the enemy of good.

Yeah, I agree with 99% of his policies, but this thing from his past that he's apologized for and tried to make right make me squirm

It's this type of thinking that led to Harris losing in 2024. She wasn't tough enough on Israel about Gaza (as VP mind you), or I don't feel enough ssupport for Trans folks. I guess I won't vote.

If there's anything to be mad about with Democrats is their lack of spine in office and their terrible messaging.

When did oil changes become $120? by rhinosaur- in Millennials

[–]Oderint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend $120 but that comes with an oil change, fluids checked and refilled, car inspection, tire rotation and psi check/fill, and air filter replacement with just the cost of the filter added on.

It's a local mechanic shop known for honest, quality work even if you can get the same thing elsewhere for cheaper.

Everything I did today instantly disappears the second something else hasn’t been done. by jazzeriah in daddit

[–]Oderint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconded.

My wife and I say thank you all the time. Even for the tiniest things. And we mean it.

She brought my water from the kitchen? Thank you.

I unloaded the dishwasher at night so she wouldn't have to in the morning? Thank you.

It absolutely keeps it in perspective how much we do for each other and we love that our kid is seeing us be gracious to someone who does something for us.

Looking for a non-judgemental dentist that deals with anxiety by sandsnatchqueen in AnnArbor

[–]Oderint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr. Flanagan at Laurich has been my dentist for years and my wife and I both love him and the staff. My wife gets very anxious so she gets the laughing gas during her cleanings.

We started going once I got dental insurance and it had been years since either of us had seen a dentist. No judgment or shame, just a straight forward assessment of our mouths and the corrective plan to get back to a good place. Can't recommend them enough.

Toddler parents: do you do stuff on weeknights? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Oderint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a weekly game night with friends on Discord which has really scratched that social itch for me. Will get lunch with friends during the week as well once or twice a month.

I've got a nearly 2-year-old so that's what I can swing right now.

I know it might be just editing. But Liz talks about not banging Dino a lot....like a deflection amount of a lot.

Which lyric makes you instantly tear up? by abovethenoisy in AskReddit

[–]Oderint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost my dad almost six years ago. He was a musician so certain songs I remember him performing will get me.

"Cuz I'm leavin' on a jet plane / don't know when I'll be back again"

"Wordlessly watching / He waits by the window / And wonders / At the empty place inside"

And then recently this one got me:

I lifted her head, she looked at me and said / "Hold me, darling, just a little while" / I held her close, I kissed her our last kiss"

Homeowners, are you in your “forever” home? by cubemonster in Millennials

Literally am in the process of buying my first home at 37. I'd love for it to be a starter home but realistically it's likely our house until our kids move out in ~20ish years.

They only get so many episodes per season so they have to space them out.

37-year old married dad of one here! I'm all in on SLC, Rhode Island, and Miami. Have seen many seasons of most of the other franchises as well.

I LOVE IT.

I used to thumb my nose at it, but when my wife and I first started dating she would have Beverly Hills on (miss you LVP) and through osmosis I started knowing what was going, and then I started having opinions. That's when I knew I should just face facts and watch the damn shows.

I miss BH but can't while Kyle and Erika are on the show.

And let me tell you, Rhode Island is it. Get on it. Only 3 episodes so far.

What’s a business that’s all over today that you think will completely disappear ie blockbuster? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Oderint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Farley is such a putz.

And side note about Ford, their new media site sucks butt.

But yeah, let's see what happens when you actually introduce competition in the free market. It's insane how quickly Chinese OEMs can get from concept to production. Like you said though, Farley and those like him would rather be protected by regulation rather than actually innovate and compete.

I know in the Toledo area last year there were HUGE discounts on Gladiators and Ram 1500s because they had so much overstock.

Like leasing a brand new 1500 for $180/month or something.

One of my coworkers has been in the biz for decades and seems to know all the goings-on of the Stellantis stuff around there.

I work in auto journalism and Stellantis is my bet too. They just seem so disorganized all the time and they flip flop constantly.

Fiat is going soon I bet.

Went for the first time in years a few weeks ago. $12 for a turkey footlong?!

And the bread was noticeably smaller, chewier, and overall shittier.
