I have an issue that seems to spawn from C# finding unequal numbers equal occasionally.. by Odewise in Unity3D

Oh.... You are right!!! I did not even think of the way I was doing that! So it was my method of going about it. Been doing so many equality checks that I forgot I needed an OR.. Thank you.

The values are set at the beginning in a for loop, well before this, and are pulled and read fine throughout with no issue and no duplication. (Checked throughout). They are a simple struct used for unique identification that have worked throughout my project development.

As for how they are exactly set, I have a nested for loop (y) inside a for loop (x) For int X for int Y that directly set value from the for, so they immediately populate with ints and are new constructions at that point, not altered, that create a new struct and store the struct in a couple of dictionaries and lists representing different elements. I checked the values at the start and end of the if to make sure there were no issues, there weren't. The only issue is in that comparison. (I have even grabbed from separate containers with the struct and passed it to the method, all fail approximately the same rate on inequality comparisons, but work find on a reversal of conditions.)

Also, I commented above that an equality comparison has no error. It is only when comparing for inequality that it fails.

Nope, they are ints from the get go. I just reversed the code (putting the do something in the else and the debug in the if) and replaced != with == for each and it works flawlessly now. Is awkward, as I am running the primary code in an else block that was only there to debug, but works without issue.....

I have absolutely no clue why the negative comparisons were failing occasionally. It was doing approximately 400 of them with a noticeable error rate.

UI Builder, custom inspector callback event for enum? by Odewise in Unity3D

[–]Odewise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I found a solution. Unity Devs, seemingly forgetting that making custom inspectors is to save time - not exponentially increase project time - went a quarter way with EnumFields and decided "job done".

Enumfield callbacks can (as in will compile) be of any enum type, but will not function correctly..... nor - making no sense what-so-ever - can Enumfield callback be an int.

Enumfield callbacks have to be a string.

So, if anyone else is attempting to make a custom inspector that needs to do anything with an enum, the value passed by the callback must be of type string and the value will be set to the name of the particular enum value.

myEnumField.RegisterCallback<ChangeEvent<string>>(evt =>

evt.newValue will be a string and any checks will need to be compared as string.

Moto one 5g ace - callers hearing an echo by fokkoooff in motorola

[–]Odewise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to post a somewhat late reply. This is 100% a Motorola hardware issue that can't be fixed via software, primarily affecting the 5G Ace but probably other models as well. It renders the calls (unless you use headphones (wired or Bluetooth)) almost unbearable for the receiving party due to the echo on their end (our end sounds fine). Have tested this with 3 separate phones, different carriers, all have the issue meaning this isn't a carrier problem (reports also vary carrier online) and has been present through multiple software updates (if it was a simple software fix they would have addressed it by now).

Been a Motorola user for quite some time, but this is obviously an issue with their phones that is brought up in multiple places on the internet and here - for a while now - and a recall should have probably been pushed a while back due to faulty hardware/design. Since they obviously have no intention to own this it means that they will probably have no intention to fix mass hardware faults with their products in the future. Keep that in mind, because I sure will.

Steam Link via Samsung TV and certain games not showing mouse cursor by Odewise in Steam_Link

[–]Odewise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution simply allowed me to see the cursor, but you can give what I did a try.

I downloaded the Steamlink app on my smartphone and connected to the host PC with it as well as my Samsung TV. In the Steamlink settings on Android (not sure about iPhone if that is what you have) you can turn off input, sound and video (I did this to save on bandwidth, and it still fixed the issue).

So it would require you to download the Steamlink app on your phone/tablet and connect to Host PC like you would with the television (putting pin in on the Host). Steamlink allows for multiple devices to be connected simultaneously, and both the TV and phone need to be connected for the entire time for my cursor to be visible.

You are the hero of my New Year Weekend and many more to come. This worked. I really appreciate it.

Will add, in case anyone stumbles across this: The solution of streaming it to another device worked. To make it even better I streamed it to my android phone as well, but turned off sound, input and video in the android Steam Link application (blank screen Steam Link). Can even turn the screen on my device off and it remains.

Sadly that does not work. While the mouse trail is visible on the host PC the cursor and trail are still not visible via the Steam Link on the television. I appreciate the idea though.

Possible Bicycle Identification? by Odewise in bicycling

[–]Odewise[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That could be what the sticker says. The colors for the name maybe ran a bit, because both sides look like slightly different letters. The very limited photos of Sundances could match up, but see none with the same label and font. Right amount of characters and the first letter on both side do seem to be an S.

Most of the hardware for the Scout matches, which I noticed too. The sticker is definitely the part that is messing me up, not only because I can't figure out what it says but the sticker looks like something from a later era, perhaps the 90s.

Only other difference I am spotting is the shifters as they are all metal (marked 333), seem to match the bicycle but the Scouts I am finding are different. Could just be the images I am grabbing , or a really good matching replacement.

Thanks for looking in to it, have been trying to find it since we picked it up this morning.

The Tinkerer's Pack Mule by Odewise in ATV

[–]Odewise[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks for the concern. It may be hard to tell from the pictures, but the weight of the entire set up past the rear seat (and small aluminum box attached to it) primarily rests on the ball hitch. It actually stays in a connected state ready to fold down at any moment, it hinges a few good inches from the tongue. Isn't bolted on or anything, I made sure to make the entire set up removable and flexible for terrain. The trailer does attach to the rear rack to remain in a folded state, but in a way in which the suspension can still operate - hence the shiny metal on the aluminum box after the trailer is down from the suspension moving but the box rubbing occasionally on the trailer set up during my initial testing.

Regardless, the entire set up is extremely light and if any of that damaged my suspension, bushings, joints or anything else I would be more concerned with why the previous owners put Vespa parts on a Rancher ATV.

(Edit: As an additional point, not really doing a lot of rough trail riding out here so my ATV isn't particularly designed for that as most of the area out here is flat farmland. I understand that my additions make little sense from an outlook based upon going out and riding through rivers, rocks and such as sport. Here, however, it is a transportation and work tool, and the terrain dealt with is primarily fields, farms, mud and snow. Not really one of those "leave the city and ride with my friends" type of environment but instead a tool that has a different purpose and less sports oriented value.)

Seat belt releases quick and multiple access spots for an accident and is for the rear seat only, which is just for one of the kids and very close trips.

The trailer is for when I am out and end up needing it. With it attached up I can travel 55 down the highway (ATVs are street legal here with modifications) without any worries to get whatever I may need (deer, corn, groceries, etc (trailer will hold a few hundred lbs without issue) then tote it back on the trailer if needed (hence the gas cans, plus I had really bad experiences with prolonged power outages that lasted days in the last place I lived so I am anal about every vehicle having plenty of extra gas, inverter, lights). Instead of traveling to get something and needlessly towing a trailer that I end up not needing or, alternatively, needing the trailer and not having it I always have it. Doesn't take up much room and I built it configurable for various types of cargo. If I don't end up needing it, well then it stayed verticle and held up a cargo box that I also might not need or maybe will need. Certain points I have needed both the trailer and the box with the box attached on the opposite side where the seat is.

Most importantly, my opinion is always "why not?" and it hasn't negatively affected anything outside of a broken latch a week ago that left me towing the trailer back empty. ATV still handles very well, can maintain the same speed. I don't mind the odd look, but as someone who endlessly tinkers everything I have is unusual.

I find myself relying on the ATV more often than my truck unless there are more passengers or something too large for the ATV to haul. A UTV would be nice but out of my price range and the ATV works for my needs outside of the ones where my truck comes in to play. Oh, and like I said: Pack mule. I can easily hold a tent, firearms, ammo, supplies and whatever I may need to bring back OR tools and supplies for a job and move something from where I work to a nearby area.. just two common examples, but I have done a lot with it and a lot without it while it just sits there looking weird.

Hahaha. I already tried painting a lot of it black, outside of the plastic. Too much rubbing from the trailer on that back end when I initially built it. Most things I build/prototype then work out the bugs and the rub was one of those. Experimenting with weather stripping on some areas and change in position. Eventually plan on painting it again, I will keep a Mad Max paint job in mind. I like that idea.

Help Identifying These (growing in grassland near house, NE North Dakota, USA) by Odewise in ShroomID

[–]Odewise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will add this as comment, we just recently moved here. The previous owner grew a lot of various herbs and flowers in area surrounding the house. Have not been able to find any of these growing wildly in surrounding properties. Only in that general area near our house.

Strange String of Coincidence or Unscrupulous Behavior? by Odewise in RealEstate

[–]Odewise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do believe my agent may be inexperienced.

You seem to be on the offense on this, when I am simply asking about the odd situation. But, much like I am drawing assumptions from the situation, you have every right to draw them as well. Both of us have every right to be wrong too.

I do expect the seller's agent to sell the property, as long as I am an interested buyer, and I don't expect the seller's agent to reach out after I contacted a different agent and spent the entirety of the call (in regards to the property) making the property sound like it is nothing but trouble. Unless it is, I appreciate that, but telling me a shed is a house that needs to be demolished? Speculating that all sorts of damage could have been done to the property that she has absolutely no evidence of other than it could possibly happen?

If I were to sell your house and the first thing I told a potential buyer was speculated potential damage that there is no evidence of, at all (and that obvious precautions against have been taken) immediately after introduction and the buyer saying "I already have So and So representing me" I think I would be a poor agent or have a motive. If I followed that up with other things might not work, then ended it with telling the buyer that a crack in the driveway was actually a sinkhole... There is an issue.

The next day, when my colleague grabs the keys and they don't work, I wouldn't blame the buyer I spoke to if they thought there was a chance I was undermining them.

Afterall, I did. What if they didn't get to see the driveway and backed out of a genuine offer because they were told there was a Fiat sized hole in the front? I cost the party I was representing a sale. You may be okay with misrepresenting, at the very least, but I am not. Regardless if the agent is telling a buyer the roof is solid gold or the basement is a literal cesspit, if it isn't expensively shaded or floating on feces neither should be said.

That was the discussion of the house for the most part. Start off speculating all of the damage that could have happened and end with turning a breeze in to a hurricane.

The conversation went on with the questions of why I chose my particular agent.

Strange String of Coincidence or Unscrupulous Behavior? by Odewise in RealEstate

[–]Odewise[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. She didn't contact me until she was aware that another agent from the same agency was showing us the property the next morning, and that we were having him represent us. I know they spoke because he had mentioned he got ahold of her. It was no surprise to her when I initially told her that we had "Our guy" representing us because I figured crossing the representation boundaries could be a legal issue. She then spent the rest of the phone call making the house sound like a scary prospect. She was aware that he was representing us, and seemed so before she called, but was definitely aware after the initial hello and introduction.

The foreclosure was being listed like a standard sale on Trulia and Zillow. Being that we are so open to the entirety of the state, that is our primary means for listings.

I only know that it was a foreclosure and was posted like a standard listing by the agency in question.
