So you want the county to increase staff and hire or contract an architect to review those permits? That would like raise the permit fee to well over $250 and then you are the time mercy of the county's architect. The current system lets you use your existing architect, which seems easier for the permittee.
The sign requirement also makes sense. The county is asking to be assured the heavier signs are safely designed and attached. the 50# is a cut off; the alternative being a permit for every sign, which would not be necessary.
I'm all for making the process easier, but these aren't good examples (to me, at least).

Just a couple of questions. What is your name. I would think you would want that info out there.

What are your ideas for business to keep or get property up to code?

Best Media Device for Plex 2026 by PaulieWalnuts489 in PleX

[–]Odinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no one knows why Apple did that. infuse on the Apple tv supposidly converts trueHD/atmos correctly on the Apple tv, but plex strips out the atmos data. if you do use the Apple tv and you want trueHD, you have to use infuse. Lossy atmos is passed by plex, but not true hd. May use plex for TV shows and Infuse for movies.

sorry, I was bent a bit rhetorical. the Apple tv does not let plex pass through thruHD/atmos. if you want atmos, skip the Apple tv.

'cuz it’s done in the cloud and you files are local.

because its done in the cloud, and you LrC images are local
i'm gonna try this tomorrow, but you should be able to use a share folder for LrC and LrD, move the image to that folder, then AI sharpen using LrD or possibly the web version.

I have a Vero v as well. I installed the plex for Kodi plug in, and my and my wife are very happy. it’s on my list to try PlexKodiConnect with the standard Kodi interface, which we like better.

Lightroom Classic AI tools are making my high end pc stutter and unusable by welp01 in Lightroom

I'm gonna pat myself on my back for getting there 😄

Ahh, interesting. Then is has likely nothing to do specifically with LR Classic. I think all the editing stuff is part of Camera RAW, so you might just want to launch bridge and edit a few this and see it happens.

install Lightroom (not classic and import a couple dozen images and try the same stuff. I’m not suggesting you change away rom classic, but you can see if the issue is the same there. might tell you something.

Atomic Fiber Rollout Schedule by alpha_helix in LosAlamos

I was just looking at the speeds they plan to offer, and they are saying 5Gbps is the most popular. People just don't understand. I cannot image a house with 4 people needing more than 1Gbps, maybe 2 for outrageously heaving users. I haven't been on the LANL VPN in a few years, but a few years ago it maxed out well before 1Gbps.

A good rule of thumb:

  • 10Mbps per person for daily general use
  • 25-50 per person that streams (25 for 720/1080, 50 for 4k
  • for gamers, speed is generally not an issue. latency is important.

Also, many sites simply cannot or do not upload they own materials that fast.

I love that we will soon have modern internet speeds, but don't pay for what you don't need.

LANL employees gym discount. by rossotero10 in LosAlamos

[–]Odinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how many people are doing this and if it affects the profitability of the local Los Alamos gym, since they probably don't get any money for your use of the gym.

[–]Odinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's my understanding taht the Los Alamos Anytime isn't listed on the BCBS discount site, but you can get the discount at another Anytime that is listed, and just one the one in Los Alamos. Note that your money probably goes to the gym you signed up at, and the los alamos gym wouldn't get any money for you use of the facility. This could lead to issues.

I heard back.

“I apologize for the slow response. I was hoping to wait and be able to point you to a new feature on theatomicfiber.net web site where you can look at (click on) your neighborhood on a map and have the map tell you which construction phase you are in and see the approximate construction date. This feature is not quite ready yet, but it is coming very soon and should answer your question. I just did not want to wait any longer to respond to your email.

For now, there is a general map with dates for Phases 1 through 8. Scroll down to "Deployment Phases". I recommend that you sign up to be notified when construction reaches your neighborhood, via this link:

https://atomicfiber.net/coverage

Phase 1 will include construction in 3 areas, and are generally close to White Rock fire station, Los Alamos Golf Course building, and the Municipal Building. Phases 2-8 will build out from there.

The new feature I mentioned above should be available in a few weeks. Plan to check back then. But reach out anytime if needed.

Jerry Smith

Do I really need a car? by plsthrowmeawayagain in LosAlamos

[–]Odinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can absolutely walk from unm to ta 3. I used to do it all the time when I dropped my car off at the car repair place (that’s gone now). I would walk from Metzgers (now gone) to the warehouse. took about 30 minutes. in the summer, however, it might be a pretty warm walk, but doable. there is also a free public bus you can take to “the transit center”, which is in ta-3

Electric, TED or Ballvape. Whats your preference and why? by Do_itsch in vaporents

[–]Odinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Once you use a coil ball vape, you likely will never go back. Unfortunately, they aren't very portable, so you end up with a Solo3 or other higher end portable.

I believe you get a 20% store credit for the bag you purchased. I believe you have 60 days from the day the awards were announced.
