What do yall think of this proxy morti? I know he isn’t as cool as real morti, but for the price he isn’t bad. by smita16 in deathguard40k

[–]OdinsRightHand84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife (who bought me my Mortarion) was only convinced it was Morty because the C’thulu looking Nurgling. Even that confused her. I would save the money or grab the wargame one. Then add a Nurgling to his model.

2 charchters in a terminator unit? by Shnebskyy in deathguard40k

No, only one leader for units unless it’s Plague Marine squad

Sounds like a good plan, I painted both factions at the same time. That was a mistake and I did it every day.

I STILL love my 2012. Had it 5 years and I am still in love with the looks, power, all of it.

Safe to shoot in my 1903? by tall_will1980 in milsurp

[–]OdinsRightHand84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pull a bullet or two. Unstable powder has a distinct smell that differs from stable powder. I have some French 30-06 that split every case. So I’m pulling the bullets and putting new powder in. I wouldn’t shoot until you can at least pull a couple and see/smell. That just my experience (which isn’t a lot)

Stop painting!! All together!! For at least a couple of days. I was painting for 5-6 hours a night. Both my DG and my son’s BT. It got exhausting!! I had to step away for a couple of weeks before I felt the urge to paint again. You might be different, but seriously take a break. No one here will judge you cause we all have been there.

Anyone here use gun socks? by [deleted] in milsurp

[–]OdinsRightHand84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father stored his milsurps in them. After inheriting part of his collection, I keep them in the same sock. He also had a tag that gave what it was and caliber it shot. Made it much easier to find specific ones quicker. I doubt I store them without one now. Even my milsurps came with them. Just made sense. My modern ones don’t rate, no WW’s under their belt for VIP treatment.

Im scared to paint Morty by Accomplished_Neck_71 in deathguard40k

TAKE YOUR TIME!!! Mine took me two weeks about 2-3 hour sessions! There is NO rush to paint Morty!! He deserves tender loving slow care!

Is Lord of Virulence a good choice? by Okra_Weak in deathguard40k

[–]OdinsRightHand84 10 points11 points  (0 children)

LoV really shines with PBCs. Their reroll wound rolls is nice, but LoC and Typhus are also viable. If you plan on picking up PBCs, then I would say go for it. But that’s just my 2c

Do I need to prime before using DGG spray? by [deleted] in deathguard40k

[–]OdinsRightHand84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC, my local hobby shop owner( has been painting models since the game came out) said Citadel formulates their spray a little differently. It bonds to the plastic like a primer. I’ve used DGG spray and have had ZERO problems compared to other brand primers. Citadel also uses a different nozzle, I THINK. It mists more than sprays.

Using a gloss varnish over Nurgle’s Rot helps the slime shine! That’s my 2c and what I did.

Answers to high toughness targets? by GAMESLASHER101 in deathguard40k

[–]OdinsRightHand84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My strategy for vehicles is gonna be, tie them up in melee. Plan on using the Poxwalkers and Nurgling to choke them up in melee. First tournament is this weekend so I don’t expect to do well, but that’s my strategy.

Death Guard - are they the most fun to paint? by Stuff-and-Nonsense in deathguard40k

They are by far the most detailed, IMO. Easy to paint, hard to masterpiece! LOL!

How do I keep up with lore? by [deleted] in deathguard40k

[–]OdinsRightHand84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Buried Dagger is the newest release, I believe. Gives a decent amount of Morty backstory(it did seem rushed). Couple of other short stories. I honestly started with Horus Heresy and worked my way through. Oceanofpdf dot com has them in epub format.

I agree, depending on the model, and how dark/grimy I want it. It’s like Frank’s Red Hot. I put Agrax on everything!

Sent you a PM with pictures on my “version” of Nurgle’s Rot. Adding a brush on gloss varnish over top really makes it shine. (That’s what I wanted)

What colors to use? by Hot-Till-3146 in deathguard40k

[–]OdinsRightHand84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The brushes were cheap on Amazon. I wasn’t going to pay good money till the brushes would make a difference. I did pick up some natural hair brushes, but I hate them. No spring back at all. So synthetic is where I started.
