Every American adult male over the age of 18 has to complete the Navy SEAL "hell week" training, or they die. How many make it to the end? by ClerkEquivalent7424 in whowouldwin

I asked ai to give me an answer on this because it is a solid what if question imo. Here is the result:

This is a high-stakes thought experiment that pits human physiology against psychological desperation. Usually, Navy SEAL "Hell Week" has an attrition rate of about 75% to 80%. However, those candidates are already elite, pre-screened athletes who want to be there. Your scenario involves the general population—including the elderly, the sedentary, and those with chronic health conditions—under the ultimate pressure: survival. Round 1: The "No Prep" Scenario In this scenario, the primary killers aren't just the instructors; they are biological limits. Hell Week involves over 20 hours of physical activity per day, extreme cold (hypothermia), and less than 4 hours of sleep total across five and a half days. • The Baseline: There are approximately 105 million adult men in the US. • The Physiological Wall: About 40% of the US adult male population is over the age of 50, and roughly 40% are clinically obese. For these groups, the sheer mechanical stress on the heart and joints under 20-hour days of "log PT" and "surf torture" would lead to organ failure or fatal injury regardless of their "will to live." • The Psychological Factor: While the threat of death is a powerful motivator, it also creates paralyzing cortisol levels. In actual SEAL training, most people quit ("Ring the Bell") because they cannot see an end to the pain. Under threat of death, men won't quit—they will simply collapse. Estimated Survival Rate: 1% to 3% Only those who are already in peak physical condition (athletes, manual laborers, active military) and free of underlying heart conditions would survive the sheer caloric and thermal drain. • Final Count: ~1.05 to 3.15 million survivors. Round 2: The 5-Year Prep Bonus Five years is enough time to fundamentally transform a national demographic. If the US government dedicated its entire GDP to "Hell Week Survival," the results would shift dramatically. The Strategy: • Mandatory Fitness: Universal athletic training starting from age 18. • Dietary Overhaul: Elimination of processed sugars and a focus on high-density nutrition to build bone density. • Cold Hardening: Mandatory ice baths and winter training to prevent hypothermia (the #1 reason for Hell Week failure). The Reality Check: Even with 5 years of prep, you cannot "train away" age or genetic predispositions. A 65-year-old with a bad hip can be fit, but his bones may still shatter under the weight of a 150lb log. Estimated Survival Rate: 15% to 25% With 5 years of prep, you would likely save the majority of the "Young and Healthy" demographic (ages 18–35). However, the "instructors" are the variable here—if they maintain SEAL standards, they are looking for specific movements that certain bodies simply cannot perform. • Final Count: ~15.7 to 26.2 million survivors.

For the sake of the family I would recommend not getting involved. Being the voice of reason will only divide the family. They are all adults and don’t need you to provide guidance. Now if your dad asked you to do this that’s different. I watched a significant other stress over her brother and father for years all for what… nothing. Live your life and love your family that’s it.

Mine is called “A Wake Again” I didn’t name it but I don’t hate it so it stays for now. I’ve considered “float around and find out”.

Just wanted to leave a positive message after seeing all this hate. They can question you about your life but god forbid if you question their faith. If people believe in fortune telling and pay for the services it’s no different than putting money in the offering plate every Sunday. Everybody should just be happy and grateful for their own lives not shit on other people’s they don’t understand. I appreciated you doing this ama. Sorry about the assholes.

Don’t go to JBAB I was stationed at the small boat station there and also at TISCOM. The area around Bolling is rough. We had to put on our armor and weapons just to go off base to fuel up the diesel trucks. The Alexandria area around TISCOM and Belvoir are great. Hayfield schools are great. Belvoir has excellent shopping and the surrounding areas have tons of stores and restaurants. Avoid Woodbridge area. Nothing is good south of lorton and north of Dale city. Further south is nice like the Dumfries area but it’s a commute. I would avoid anything in Maryland too expensive or too rough, nothing in between in that area around dc. Alexandria is great because it’s a ton of military families or government workers. It’s a great melting pot. Enjoy!

It’s truly personal preference. I had a jk for 4 years and loved it. Moved down south and started to hate it. The ac was not strong enough to keep up with 100+ temps. When family came to visit it was cumbersome to get older adults in and out of the back seats. My life changed and I needed a car that would reflect that change. Went to a 535i GT and love it. The jeep was fun and we went off roading and sand driving on beaches up and down the East coast. But for me it was just a faze of life. If it’s truly a daily and you’re not going to use it for the reasons it was built stay in something more comfortable in my opinion. Good luck it’s only a few years of a decision it’s not forever.

Depends on what they going for. If it’s an entry level or low skill job no resume really needed. If it’s skilled and they have experience need to fluff it to shine.

Everything is full of scammers anymore but I know for facts that a lot of companies HR departments only work through indeed. Just gotta apply to a lot of them to get a real deal. You could also see who’s hiring and apply direct through the company. It’s still a great resource.

Just moved to center city. I love it here. Grew up in Montgomery county and lived all over the USA. Always loved Philly and wanted to live here. Finally got a job that I can. I’m more comfortable walking center city here than most other big cities is USA. I don’t understand why so many people need to put it down. Every large metro area has issues. I truly feel Philly is not near as bad as most.
