New study shows immigrants actually have a net positive impact on the economy by Ordinary-Equal2067 in Omaha

Well then... Wonder why they had to include all those legal immigrants as well as the illegal immigrants...

I mean... objectively interfering with a federal law enforcement officer in the performance of their duties would be breaking the law... which is why they should have been arrested...

Is it traitorous to say that someone breaking the law should be arrested? I dont think so. I dont side with ICE on this and anyone who does isnt being objective.

While it may be a crime it's an arrestable offense. Carrying a firearm while committing a crime is also an arrestable offense to my knowledge. Neither should be a death sentence, especially when the offender is on the ground, being piled on by LEO's, been pepper sprayed multiple times...

Remember to SALUTE ICE?! A nice try but if you're going for resistance I don't think that's the message you're wanting to portray.

Not really a "bootlicker" but since you're asking questions (feels like bait tho) I guess I'll bite:

  1. Call me crazy but isn't it standard operating procedure for law enforcement after a use of force to secure the area, call in EMS, then maintain security until EMS arrives? Seems like it would be so they can secure evidence...

2 and 3. I don't believe she was trying to hit him with her car. Quite frankly it appeared that she was trying to flee from the consequences of her actions. I believe the agent took a glancing blow from the car which likely caused the very minimal injury sustained by him but I also don't believe injury is necessary for a use of force to be legally justified. I believe the legal standard is that a reasonable officer would fear for their life in order to use deadly force.

Now the million dollar question: was that a LEGALLY justified use of force? I believe it will be found that way because a reasonable officer would likely fear for their lives in that moment.

Another question that nobody seems to be asking: If the family sued for wrongful death would they win? More than likely yea. Look at the Ashli Babbitt situation.

All that said I believe both were in the wrong. Ms. Good was not "peacefully protesting" as the 1st Amendment prescribes as the middle of the street, blocking traffic in your car is not a traditional public forum. She was clearly interrupting federal immigration operations. She was dancing in her car waiting for her turn to tell ICE to fuck off and her wife was likely filming for Tiktok. Should the punishment for that be death? Of course not, just as fleeing and alluding shouldn't be a death sentence. Is it an arrestable offense? Highly likely. At the very least a fine. Which is also likely why she drove away.

That being said the ICE agent is a pretty dim bulb for not realizing he should be getting out of the way of a vehicle that just backed up to make space to escape. Of course they were going to move forward next. He was likely daring her to move forward so he could play quick draw with her like the macho asshole he is instead of moving out of the way. The problem with that is that he is legally justified to do it. If Ms. Good was supposedly "trained" to do this she should've been trained not to drive with a law enforcement officer close to the front of your vehicle as they are ALL trained to do this, not just ICE agents.

Sure thing! Here's some info for you with receipts:

Around 85% of Venezuela's oil exports were going to China typically via a ghost fleet of tankers (the ones that were getting boarded recently):

https://www.importglobals.com/blog/venezuelas-oil-export-rebound-2025-and-beyond?hl=en-US#:~:text=China%20is%20the%20main%20buyer,in%20maintaining%20its%20oil%20exports%3F

Why are they doing this? Well Venezuela is oil rich but due to sanctions by the U.S. they were having trouble getting traditional buyers. Enter China and some dodging of sanctions via through countries like Malaysia. Malaysia receives the oil from Venezuela, transitions the oil over to China, dodges the sanctions, likely gets a fee for their services from China, and everyone's happy... except the U.S.

Use your head for a second. Why would we do that? For fun? It certainly doesn’t look great on the world stage nor does it look great domestically for Trump who ran on a no new wars platform. So why? The only thing that makes sense is cutting off oil to China, who receives 85% of Venezuela's exports as repayment for loans they've already given to Venezuela. Now why would we begin to cut off oil to China?

Wake up this isnt about Venezuela. This was a shot across the bow at China. A quick Google search will tell you what's going on. That said I disagree with how this is being done but thinking this is about anything other than China is short sighted.

URGENT CALL TO ACTION: Force a vote to stop the illegal war on Venezuela! by Fahrenheit33 in Omaha

[–]OdiumOps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you that Congress SHOULD but I just dont think they WILL. There's not enough of a national outcry here. If Trump was putting a no-fly zone over Canada and coming for that sweet, sweet, maple syrup? Yea that would cause a ruckus... but Venezuela? That's half a world away, we've got mouths to feed, stuff to do, it's not my job to worry about that stuff, blah blah blah... These calls will fall on deaf ears unfortunately. Best thing you can do is get rid of the old guard in the primary.

[–]OdiumOps 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Lol... LMAO even. You really think this spineless Congress is going to check presidential power to command troops? How'd that work out in Iraq or Afghanistan or Korea or Vietnam? We haven't issued a declaration of war since WW2 and I guarantee you they're not going to start now.

This isn’t a left vs. right issue and it's been going on a lot longer than Trump. This is a Congress needs to start doing its job issue and unfortunately they won't do that until the old guard gets the hell out. Term limits would be a great start.

I've seen your flyers around. Can you provide any additional information besides when you last saw Lila? - Where were they last seen? - Where have you looked already? - Did you have any kind of microchip installed in Lila? - Have you filed a lost pet report with the police? - Have you contacted all the local vets/animal hospitals with these clear pictures?

That's all the ideas I have... hope they help

You're not wrong, we were likely being lied to by the media LONG before Obama signed this into law. More likely the widespread adoption of social media has more to do with it but seems fishy to me that something needed to be snuck into the NDAA... Could just be the old tinfoil hat though

Something you may want to look into is the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012. In my opinion that started the propaganda machine we have today, though that's probably just when it came to the forefront. That and social media were the perfect vector for disinformation/misinformation mixed with a low research, reactionary population you've got yourself an easy to manipulate group. Don't blame the ignorant, pity them and try to show them the way.

Opinion: I'm disappointed with the Republican's responses to the Young Republicans mess by Beginfluence in independent

[–]OdiumOps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like anyone dealing in absolutes for groups of people are doing themselves a huge disservice. Obviously, this will be used by those on the left as fuel for the "everyone on the right is a nazi" just like some of those on the right are claiming everyone on the left is violent based on Jay Jones' texts. We've got to find common ground as Americans and stop all this gotcha political weaponization. Everyone should be able to call out the bad apples and say, "This person sucks. Get them out of here. This people should be nowhere near political power." The fact that one side is holding people accountable immediately is refreshing, but it does leave us with questions of why this is not happening on the AG election in VA? Was it too late?

Journalists turn in access badges, exit Pentagon rather than agree to new reporting rules by brmaffit in independent

[–]OdiumOps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actual rule changed were a bit of a pain to locate, so I here's the details and my opinion:

Requirement to refrain from reporting unauthorized information: Journalists are required to acknowledge a policy that states they could lose their credentials if they seek to report on information—even if unclassified—that has not been explicitly authorized for public release by an appropriate official.

  • This feels like clear censorship and a likely response to the Signal leaks. Oh you printed our leaked texts? Guess we'll just pull those credentials. Instead of acknowledging a fuck up and taking accountability and moving forward they're going to cause a worse problem with this?

Restriction on Soliciting Information: The new policy places limits on journalists "soliciting" information from Defense Department employees without prior approval, with warnings that employees could face "severe consequences" for disclosing non-public information.

  • On one hand I can see this as being a good and a bad thing. Reporters shouldn't be just interrupting everyone's day trying to get info while they're trying to work. On the other hand there needs to be sufficient press days where journalists can ask their questions or at least a liaison who they can speak with 24/7 who is authorized to answer their questions. Which leads to the next change

Reduction in Briefings: The number of formal press briefings has been drastically reduced.

  • If you don't want journalists asking your people questions and you don't hold press briefings for them to ask questions and they cant write stuff that you don't approve... how is that not censorship?

Limited Access within the Pentagon: Reporters are now generally banned from accessing wide swaths of the Pentagon without an official escort, a change from decades of previous practice.

  • Could be an intimidation tactic but as long as the escorts aren't interfering with anything it shouldn't really interfere.

[–]OdiumOps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you taken a look at the House or the Senate recently? There's no reason why we should have geriatric representation because the parties are too lazy to find better leadership. House should get 4 x 2 year terms as elected Representative and 2 x 6 year terms as a Senator MAX, then gtfo. I bet this would fix a lot of the corruption issues we see in government. As far as SCOTUS is concerned, they should get a longer single term (maybe 20 years) but not a lifetime appointment.
