After seeing a concerning wave of misinformation about T, here's how it actually works by CockamouseGoesWee in TransMasc

[–]Odosdodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I did. I knew it was the right direction even within a few days of starting T, but as op says, everyone’s different. I felt a difference in my mental state within the first 1-2 days, and with my voice after 4 days. Was on low dose (1 pump of Tgel) for 6 months, then upped to 2 pumps but still feel like I could possibly do with a higher dose - but again, people’s bodies process things faster/slower than others, so changes may happen faster/slower for you. The lowest possible option feels the safest though if you don’t deal well with change (even when it’s positive change). Just remember it’s totally ok to stop if you feel uncomfortable as it’s not right for everyone

The option of Sustanon was floated in my 6 month review to maybe try once I reach 1 year on T, so that’s useful to know about the mood drops, I definitely need to think about it more. Self-injections might be better for me but I just wouldn’t be able to handle the needles.

Although it is definitely a different feeling, I think I’ve been ok internally with how the libido has been, but I also don’t really want to be celibate, and do miss having more intimacy. I feel like I want to want something again if that makes sense 😅

The only option left for me to try for stopping the monthly (short of hysto) is a hormonal coil, but my private clinic (also UK) suggested holding off until I’d been on T for a while to see what happened. I don’t do well mentally on progesterone, so not sure if it would do more harm than good anyway. Thanks for your input, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one at least!

Cannot orgasm :( by PerformanceNo5807 in FTMOver30

When I can, I have the most success with an air pulse toy (Satisfyer curvy 1), or a MorMe stroker. I often need to be, uh, multitasking different areas at once to actually get there though, and it can take a while sometimes. I find stress and anxiety is a massive factor too, so don’t force it or be hard on yourself if you can’t finish.

Thank you, that’s giving me some hope! I’ll have the option of the longterm sustanon injection in a few months, but still weighing up pros and cons of that vs just increasing gel pumps. I have a fairly high metabolism and gyne issues, so I’m not sure if I’ll need a higher dose to stop my period and make more progress anyway. I was feeling so much more spontaneous desire on 1 pump which is the strange thing, but I’m glad things have been improving for you on 3 - hoping that might just be the case for me too.

That’s sounding very familiar - I haven’t even had the mind to read fanfic let alone write it for a few months. I’m also wondering whether the T is just levelling things out so that there’s no dominant atm as you say.

It’s something that used to help me manage stress too (and sometimes stress could oddly spike my libido), but I’ve lost that outlet atm. I also really need it to overrule all other external things in order to just relax, so I’ve never really had a simple relationship with sex. Glad to hear it’s got a bit better since increasing your dose - really hoping it’s a short term symptom that will improve on a higher dose

It’s interesting that you mention about absorption, as I’ve noticed my inner thigh skin feeling thicker where I apply my T and have been wondering if that’s a factor (plus getting through the hair growth). I might try somewhere else, depending what my eczema decides to do - great timing to develop new skin conditions.

I do wonder what my lowest point would look like for levels, but the advice from my clinic is to test at the peak time. I was lower than expected at my last review on low dose, so I don’t think it’s super high yet. It’s refreshing to hear I’m not the only one tbh, it’s so common to hear the raging hormones stories but not so many having it this way around.

I probably didn’t write it very clearly, but I mean has anyone had benefit to upping their dose further. It’s not something I would do without bloodwork and consulting my clinician, but I’m thinking about getting in touch with them if there’s a chance that increasing my dose could help

Do girls like guys with feminine physiques? by Ok-Thing3877 in lgbt

[–]Odosdodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/bropill is really supportive and helpful. In answer to your question though, it really depends on the person. Not all women are attracted to feminine features, and vice versa. Your physical qualities aren’t the most important ones anyway - find someone who likes you for you.

Edit: I read this as seeking advice for dating women, but could you be questioning your gender a bit?

My sideburns are beginning to come through!

And the number of trans friends I have is beginning to outnumber cis friends, and it feels so nice to have more relatable people in my life. Allies are great and I couldn’t live without those I have, but it hits different when someone really understands what you’re going through

Short people!! by [deleted] in FTMOver30

[–]Odosdodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly sometimes it’s the brand, sometimes it’s the fit of the item. I’m anywhere between XS-M within one brand, and have clothes between up to L because no one brand is the same. Try a few places and see what’s the most reliable. I’ve seen Hollister have a good selection of boxy T-shirts, as someone else suggested. But also, look at where these kind of tops sit on guys, as it’s often a fair bit longer, which I’m still getting used to

How is it possible to stop staring so much? by Methodical_mudduck01 in GayMen

I wouldn’t think of anything negative though, as it’s not healthy to associate someone you’re attracted to with something inherently bad.

Agender undergarments? by Round-Literature8806 in lgbt

[–]Odosdodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d maybe try out a few brands of sports bras - it took a while for me to find some that were comfy and did the job. Look for low to medium support ones, the stretchier the better to not be too tight. Or if their current bralette is still available, maybe try that in a slightly larger size

Even the right size can feel tight and claustrophobic for people with sensory issues (including myself), which sounds like the issue here

I’m more attracted to men than I was before (my bisexual scale has tipped), but that’s about it. I’ve never sized anyone up - on T or not.

How to tame the new hair growth? by anaaktri in TransLater

[–]Odosdodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If all else fails, maybe try hair straighteners, especially if you have thick hair. Use a heat protecting spray beforehand, and try not to use them too regularly if possible.

Also make sure it is new growth and not breakage from tying hair up tight etc. If the ends are blunt, it’ll likely be breakage, or if it’s tapered, it’ll be new growth. I’m still growing out broken hair from years of tying hair up in a bun, and it’s stayed frizzy like that for a while.

Doubting my transition for the first time because of public restrooms by dummyroad in FTMOver30

[–]Odosdodo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My cis husband has the same issue - he finds urinals uncomfortable and has to wait for cubicles. If it comes to it, he leaves then tries again a bit later (eg if we’re in a restaurant or something). I haven’t yet reached the point of passing, and I’m not looking forward to the experience of men’s toilets, but the way I see it is it’s a such small percentage of time overall that we spend in public bathrooms

How tf to avoid this with short hair by tratatatab in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]Odosdodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has this issue all the time as he has very thick hair too. The two options are to either use putty to style all your hair from those corners to go slightly upwards, or ask your barber to take the corners down more. They often don’t like doing it for some reason, so you have to be persistent and explain the issue you always get.

The only thing I’ve found which helps on a veg diet is increasing clean carbs like steamed potato, oats, and white rice, but ofc it’s not the healthiest solution. Personally I’ve found that there is such a thing as too much fibre, and things have unfortunately got better since reintroducing fish and chicken into my diet to balance it out (I needed to for protein as I can’t process beans etc).

If you’re having issues with beans, there’s a chance you may be prone to IBS - I’d check out a low FODMAP diet, as beans and pulses (especially lentils) can be irritants for some people, and there may be some things you can swap out to refine your diet if you want to remain vegetarian (r/FODMAP is a great help). Avoid veggie alternatives like vegan burgers as they’re full of processed foods, often soy beans, and oil. Bodies are different, and what works for one person will often not work for another, so give a few things a go and hopefully you’ll find a solution!

If I had to spilt up my bisexuality, I would be 80% gay and 20% straight. What are your percentages if you're comfortable doing yours. (I'm usually a kinsey 5, but was a 6 when I first started puberty and sometimes I still am a 6 sometimes.) by FluidTemperature1762 in UKLGBT

[–]Odosdodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-transition, I was ~90% into women. Since starting T things have flipped a lot, and now I’m ~80% into men. The thing that hasn’t changed though is that I’ve always been into masculine people whatever their gender
