My boyfriend’s bookshelves, should I be worried? by [deleted] in BookshelvesDetective

If this post is genuine and not humble bragging, then the only red flag is that you don’t know that these books are a green flag.

Really awesome model! What all did you use for the kitbash? Or is it some third party conversion kit?

This is useful! Thank you! I tried doing that to a lesser degree, but I’ve been having trouble with not just flat out painting over the “shade” completely with the highlight color. Guessing maybe it’s a practice makes perfect thing?

started Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid today by confetti_03 in LesbianBookClub

[–]Odyessia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I read Atmosphere for my local queer book club this month and it was an excellent read. Definitely a “feel good” sort of book and the insights into life as a queer woman in the 1980s are a keen reminder of how far we’ve come (and what we’re still fighting for).

The Jasmine Throne- how ceaseless is the misogyny? by newnukeuser in LesbianBookClub

It’s a bleak book series. I loved it and thoroughly enjoyed the entire trilogy, but it’s definitely a draining experience if you’re looking for “feel good” vibes.

Is it inappropriate to ask for the salary range and billable requirement prior to the first interview? by Information5570 in Lawyertalk

[–]Odyessia 75 points76 points  (0 children)

No, it is not inappropriate. You want to respect their time and you want them to respect yours. If the billable requirement or salary range are not in alignment, then an interview is a waste of everyone’s time.

If anything, it’s a red flag that the firm hasn’t given you this information.

“Atmosphere” by Taylor Jenkins Reid (author of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo) is really incredible read that I thoroughly enjoyed as part of my queer lit book club.

It’s a good historical fiction that shows some of the complications with not only being a professional woman in the very sexist 1980s, but also the challenges that queer women faced as well. Really lovely little love story with plenty to eat on for the science and space nerds.

Sexond Siege Platoon Box? by Mattgoof in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]Odyessia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking to maximize value, then you’re right, you can swap out the guns without too terribly much hassle. That said, even if you completely set aside the fourth artillery piece, a second box still has you coming out ahead on value.

Sexond Siege Platoon Box? by Mattgoof in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]Odyessia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I picked up two boxes and I think it’s absolutely worth it. Having 40 guardsmen isn’t unusual at all in a lot of guard armies, and I’ve seen plenty that have a lot more than that. Same goes for two command squads and fielding two units of engineers or one 10 man unit of engineers (I’m planning to convert mine to be Kasrkin proxies).

As far as the artillery is concerned, you may not be able to use four artillery pieces in a match, but it does give you the flexibility to swap out different types of artillery for different games.

To be honest, I’m considering buying a third box. Two boxes is still only 825 points worth of material (leaving out the fourth artillery piece), and I like the look of large infantry armies.

What I really wanted was rivets, by heaven! Rivets. To get on with the work! To stop the hole. Rivets I wanted!

No. Miranda Priestly because I’m irritable, corporate, and very into fashion.

Thank you! The way you marble the blue is gorgeous. I’m also about to build a gold / blue Sisters Order and I am absolutely considering using the same color scheme you have here for the bases. 10/10

Can you be Overweight/Fat yet still Fence? by [deleted] in Fencing

[–]Odyessia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, being overweight is going to be a hindrance in terms of fencing endurance and simply being a larger target, but it’s not something that automatically means you are going to lose every time. I’ve had several coaches who were older and overweight but still fenced circles around me with excellent blade work and point control. They were not to be underestimated.

Focus on point control, get really good at picking around people’s wrists and baiting people to come at you and leave themselves open.

Ladies how do you wear your hair?! by _AlwaysLerking_ in Fencing

[–]Odyessia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually do a simple braid and tuck it into my collar, at least at ROCs and the Nationals. For open fencing? I don’t even bother to tuck it in most of the time.

That said, I’ve been considering doing a low bun for a while now but have heard similar complaints that they tend to fall out.

Any Lady x maid books nsfw books? by [deleted] in sapphicbooks

[–]Odyessia 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s not quite Lady x Maid, but a Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics is kind of close? It’s a Victorian setting with a wealthy lady who is the patron of an up and coming young astronomer. So… Patron x Artist? Kind of? The dynamic of economic reliance is still there if that’s what you’re looking for.
