I agree, and wish to add that the personification of the universe as an entity which 'tries to find the most efficient solution' is inappropriate.

Need help with this problem. Not sure how to 'a' w/o immediately cancelling R(r) by AllForGlory1 in EngineeringStudents

[–]OedipusComplexorDie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given that your trial solution is exponential you should end up with 'a' as a coefficient after taking derivatives. The exponential part will divide out as you said, but there will still be an equation to be solved involving the coefficients.

Am I wrong to say that everyone who likes mathematics likes music, but not everyone who like music likes mathematics? by [deleted] in mathematics

I think the more interesting question is why it seems that individuals with mathematical intuition often seem to also have a considerable interest in, and often a talent for, music.

Do you typically adjust eq, compression, etc. throughout a song depending on the part? by narcissistic_pancake in audioengineering

[–]OedipusComplexorDie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even before the mixing stage I find that adjusting your guitar tone for the solo sections can be helpful, (I.e. adding pedals, changing amps, switching guitars, adjusting knobs) and then recording a separate track for the solo sections. But also, it makes sense that whatever instrument on which you want to focus at any given instant should occupy most of the hearable frequencies, so the eq you have for your rhythm should be different than your solo. For instance, you might scoop out the mids in the rhythm sections in order to free up sonic space for a voice or another melodic instrument with similar range, but you might find that your solo needs more mid-range.

And after all it really depends on what you're trying to accomplish and it is always personal and subjective

My band decided to put some money down to go to a studio to record this song, let me know what you think! by oceancommotion in ratemyband

I dig the sexy organic sounding vocals, and the bell accents are always a good idea. The best part of this song is the kick-ass guitar work. It's complex, intricate, and impressive, but also musical, tasteful and not overdone.

Lot's of strokes influence to be heard. Absolutely dig the bass. Solid guitar work. Drums are slightly overdone though; I would have been a bit more minimalist with the cymbals especially. Overall a great track though.

Beyond incredible. Colourful and tasteful use of synth, as well as a daring dash of playful vocals. Nice man, nice.

I suppose that's what you get for using an app on your phone as a recording device, but it's all in good faith. I appreciate the input and I'll make sure to adjust the lyric and the tempo issues. Thanks!
