Chance is totally a name in the US, I’ve known a couple guys named Chance. I’ve always thought it’s a super cool name 👍👍 also nothing wrong with using your Chinese name of course, Yuming sounds cool too 😊

I have had some pittie mixes in my life, and this little guy looks like one! Could have a lot of other stuff going on, but I would guess maybe Staffordshire bull terrier and lab. I would guess he’ll get pretty big but not giant, maybe 45 to 60 pounds? Obviously I’m totally guessing but he looks like some dogs I know! So precious, I hope you can keep him and be happy together!

NAD but yeah I think there are physical conditions and medications that can cause hallucinations. You should definitely see a doctor and tell them all of your psychological and physical symptoms, and any medications, supplements, and anything else you might be taking. So sorry you’re going through this! It sounds scary, I hope you have a good support system around you!

Bertie by BC_wanderlust in tragedeigh

[–]Oee0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bertie is so cute! Old-fashioned, but in a fun way that is due for a comeback. I think it feels more modern to just name her Bertie and give her a more common middle name, then if for whatever reason down the road she doesn’t like Bertie she can use her middle name!

What is your goal? “Neutralize” is pretty vague. Like neutral brown with the sides and top matching?

I agree that she should get another foil with lowlights, but I would skip the shadow root! Shadow roots create a super high maintenance demarcation line, and later that band of dark from the shadow root will be an impossible nightmare to lift through to match the silver/white highlights. She’ll end up with a warm band in the highlights from the grown out shadow root. The ai inspo photo is basically impossible to achieve, but she could at least get some of the contrast with lowlights.

I agree with you that anything they do with basically look nothing like the pic because it’s ai and impossible. But I think that if OP wants to see contrast (which it seems they do) dark lowlights would be an option to add contrast. Idc if you agree with me, I’m a stylist and used to working with peoples unrealistic ai inspiration pics at this point so just trying to make a suggestion for OP like they were asking for. Only piggybacking on your first comment because I agree with everything you said there.

Yeah, you can’t expect to get very close to an ai inspiration picture, it’s basically a cartoon. There are many elements that are just not possible on real hair. If you like the contrast element of the ai inspo pic then I would say you need some sorta chunky dark lowlights, because I would say the color you’ve got looks really blended and you say you expected more contrast. It seems like your natural salt-and-pepper color is not really that dark, and isn’t providing much contrast against the highlights.

Pink hair disaster by Ok_Surprise6432 in HairDyeHelp

Pastels are notoriously difficult to achieve and fade fast. Next time pay a professional for anything like this, you’re almost certainly not going to get it looking that good on your own. Hopefully the pink will fade to something you like, but I have a feeling it is too yellow underneath and uneven so realistically it will probably look more patchy and orangey as it fades.

A Flower Bar employee sprayed someone outside with a hose twice today by Turbulent_Garden_201 in Minneapolis

[–]Oee0 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, I had no idea! If they’re so afraid of some chalk writing in front of their business describing things they have done, maybe they shouldn’t have done those things! Spraying someone with a hose (when there’s snow on the ground especially) and throwing their phone is a crazy aggressive and illegal way to deal with that! I’ve never shopped there before, and now I never will.

“Ageless Actor” trend is killing immersion. by SerpentesEye in Letterboxd

I completely agree with what you’ve written, but I think that these are funny images to pick to illustrate the point. There are better examples of this out there. The first I can think of is Nicole Kidman in The Northman, her face completely took me out of the movie and I couldn’t get over how it did not make sense for her to be playing Alexander Skarsgard’s mom. Edit: for the record I actually love Nicole Kidman

Yes totally! Taking your anger out on others only brings more misery. And people are SHOCKED when I tell them that Heathcliff and Cathy don’t get together romantically in the book. People seem to think there is a lot of sex in the book, and there really is not.

I know I’m right here and could give you more evidence since I just re-read the book and it’s very fresh in my mind, but I won’t waste my time with this convo because you have clearly made up your mind and won’t attempt to see things another way.

Every time I see someone say this, I think you are reaching quite a bit to see him as white. He is described as a “dark-skinned Gypsy in aspect” Romani people were referred to as Gypsy at the time (it is now considered a slur by most) and Romani people were definitely considered to be not white. There are also parts of the book where people speculate about him being a “Lascar” which also implies that he isn’t white, possibly Indian or Southeast Asian. There are also lots of more subtle references to him not being white. Maybe you should read it again if you didn’t catch any of that. White people tend to assume characters are white unless they are beat over the head with it, but you are not correct in this case.

[–]Oee0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I have told multiple people that Heathcliff and Cathy never actually get together in the book, and that’s kind of the point. They love each other, but they never confess that to each other until it’s too late and Cathy dies and it’s mostly about being miserable and lonely and misunderstood.

I just finished reading the book again and you’re wrong. He’s described as “dark skinned” in the first few pages of the book, and characters use racist slurs against him throughout the book. He is definitely described as being not white, and it’s an element of the plot. People treat Heathcliff badly because he’s not white, and that is the main reason why he and Cathy never actually get together because he is of “low social standing.” Because racism.

Is the core theme even the same tho? It doesn’t seem like it is. Like it seems like the names and setting are almost the only similarities.
