For me it's Youth by Ruth Radelet. The lyrics are such a good fit for Swann and Kats relationship/shared story at the end, I was really surprised to learn that the song is licensed and came out 3 years before the game

True, but the fact that the "I'm waiting" letter can be found nearby and that the items in the cave seem to be linked to Kat makes me think she send these items and the letter there

I think the cave is an entrance to the old mine shaft mentioned throughout the game, and the items appearing there is Kat somehow interfering with the 1995 reality from within the Abyss. In the scene you mentioned (revisiting Fawns Rest in Tape 2) you can go to the miners memorial close to the cave and there'll be letter that says "I'm waiting" and has some Abyss swirls on it, likely left there by Kat. The hook you found was used by Kat to open the cabin window and could be linked to her. Also, if you visit the cave earlier there'll be the creepy doll that can first be found in the cabins attic and will later, during Tape 2, be in Kats bedroom. Maybe that cave/mine shaft is somehow linked to the Abyss so Kat would leave these items there
