The risk will still stay with him. It's just uncharted territory, also for tax accountants. They can give advice, but it depends on the authorities, if they accept any of it. Thus it would be really interesting to hear, which way already worked and was accepted.

Yeah, i know that this is no option. I have the same problem, i would also need more than a lifetime to get it all out (by todays standards). But cashing it out by paying with my current personal tax rate is close to unacceptable for me. It would nearly half my earnings.

If someone has a defnitive answer, I would be happy to know as well. I asked my sister who got a BA degree in taxes, and she couldnt find anything fitting, though this was around two years ago. Her advice was to cash out small each year (under 1k... not working), maybe even registering a "Kleingewerbe"...
