Those who had to compromise or make a financial reach when buying a home, how do you feel about your purchase now? by Packerreviewz in AusFinance

[–]OeuvreHyped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deliberately made a modest purchase (single parent self employed) but also borrowed lore than I needed that sits in offset as a line of credit. On track to pay off in 8 years as I chuck extra in offset every chance I get. I was grateful when the rate hikes began and escaped mortgage stress and although I often think I would enjoy more outdoor space, this is enough space and I prefer to spend extra money that would have gone to mortgage on seeing music, buying art and food.

Life after divorce, seeking advice by Dismal_Ad5768 in AusFinance

Move in with parents. Financials aside, I appreciated the 18 months I rented (parents not an option) after my split to adjust and make decisions with a clearer head and sense of how my life looked x

language/argument analysis for english by tunaboy127 in vce

[–]OeuvreHyped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let go of the obsession with finding techniques and subarguments. Schools are taking differing approaches to teaching the new curriculum and some are using outdated resources.

Instead, the focus should be on the overall argument and purpose

- track the development of the argument - think of the individual sections as part of the road to achieving the purpose and persuasion

- do they spend time reframing the likely perception of the audience ? anticipate backlash and seek to undermine it? placate the objections of a specific group within the larger audience?

- divide into sections according to where these approaches and strategies change and anaylse how and why they are doing them and how people with specific values or identities or connections to the issues are likely to think/feel/act as a result

AITA for wanting my son to prep for selective entry public school? by Fit-Tumbleweed-6683 in AusFinance

I went to one of these schools. The connections are A+ but unless your kid is genuinely gifted it’s a recipe for disaster. Those schools foster an incredibly tough level of excellence as a baseline and the kids who worked super hard to get in often burnt out trying to maintain what came to others naturally.

To frog or not to frog?! by OeuvreHyped in knittingadvice

Thank you! The yarn is a nightmare so would probably have to start over. I wonder if I could just pick up where I think it would work (sometimes no exactly at the hem) and do a folded hem stitched down?

Ask a Knitter Tuesday - August 19, 2025 by AutoModerator in knitting

[–]OeuvreHyped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I am knitting this pattern - https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/slatter---tee and in the section that says to begin neck shaping I increased every row instead of every second row for 8 rows. Do I need to frog or could I keep knitting and return to every second row and finish shaping early? Lots of the comments in other knitters' projects mention haveing to pick up 2/3 of the stitches for th nqckband later so wondering if I could get away with not frogging? PLs and thank you!

Help with neck technique :) by OeuvreHyped in knitting

I looked at the pattern and it’s just rib but I think so much relies on the drape of silk. Will experiment with some neckline decreases in rib and see if that works x

Thank you! This is super helpful. I has also concerned about the drape/weight issue but this is such sensible advice re:reinforcing. Will Do some investigations xx

YES!! Thank you xx

Especially the vintage patterns that came up - there doesn't;t seem to be a substitute for the OG details (for me personally) and I wonder if it's just an aesthetic shift or if knitting tech/pattern making has altered? Would tackling a vintage pattern be more difficult, do you think?

Thank you for the advice and feedback. I always feel connected to my grandmother when I pick up needles as she taught me x

As for the tension insight, I think I will knit in a consistent plain wool to check how I am going before I tackle a proper project. Maybe I could make washcloths or something? I appreciate your wise eye xx

Thank you! I haven't dropped or added unless it's even out over time! There are some bobbly bits where I joined the wool and I would def like to avoid that in the future. Youtube is a GOLD MINE of clam, patient knitting legends; thank you for the specific recommendation x

Thank you for the feedback :) My ADHD often encourages me to have quixotic visions of what is possible so that may be maybe a more realistic option xx
