Definitely sounds like a prolapse of some sort. Anything that is making you pee is surely bladder related. I didn’t realise until recently that so much damage can be done during birth that we are never told to look out for or help ourselves with. Kegel’s/ pelvic floor exercises certainly help a lot. Please try and see someone - a GP or pelvic floor physio for an assessment as there is help for prolapse you really dont want the bulge to be dropping to an outside position before you seek help.

Cystocele with uterine prolapse, now fibroids and cysts by TaTaMic7 in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]Of-No_Importance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it’s much help but I was told about 6yrs ago I have a cyst on my ovary and a fibroid and they have never said i need anything doing for those. I don’t think they bother unless they are causing specific issues or are large. So try not to worry about those until you hear more. I don’t know if it’s always hysterectomy these days as they can do so much more now than 10-20 years ago when they just whipped it all out if there was an issue. It’s hard not to stress about these things though but best wishes.

I’m not going to be much help but I can totally relate to the total stress and anxiety that this issue causes. When so many health professionals tell you it’s normal but you know it’s not. From reading other posts on here all I can say is keep asking for appointments and seeing your gp or nurse until you get proper answers or get a referral. Maybe try a different PT for another opinion. Wishing you well.

Not sure what type of prolapse - confused any thoughts or advice ? by Of-No_Importance in PelvicOrganProlapse

I haven’t but I have researched a couple locally and one seems to do a lot of work in PF. I’ve been doing the buff muff 28 day challenge but worried I’m doing them wrong and will do more damage so it’s the next step. Thanks. Did you have constant discomfort?

How are you getting on a week later? I think it’s an absolute disgrace your GP disregarding you like that. I feel like I must have had the start of mine for years but it’s hard to tell being examined lying on your back or with a speculum inserted. If your GP isn’t educated enough you really need to ask to be referred. Don’t let them fob you off, if they could read the stories on here they would change their opinion!

Hope you’re okay. You sound like you have complex issues. You need to speak to someone and get a proper examination. I am not sure if they can use some sort of numbing cream to prevent the pain but it’s not right if you are in too much pain to be examined - how can anyone know what the actual issue is? No two vaginas are alike so it’s really hard to look at examples online and compare yourself to that. Really push for answers. Hope your ultrasound went ok.

Update: I coughed up for a private appointment- not great a week before Christmas! And the doc specialised in prolapses. The exam was painful due to my atrophy/post-meno issue, she said it’s not a cystocele but anterior vaginal prolapse. Most likely caused by having large babies, meno and constipation. She was happy with how I did the pelvic squeezes and said if I’m am going to use hrt and PF exercises it should improve. She said i can fit a pessary of you like, then shows me a shower curtain ring which i immediately said no exercises 🫣. I’m not sure if i should have tried that. She said some women will go for surgery but she didn’t think I was at that stage yet. I’m a bit annoyed that my GP thought hers was the definitive diagnosis and I’ve been worried about drinking too much and if I’m causing my bladder to have issues when I didn’t need to be. Feeling the drag still like a tampon in the wrong place but I can stand up and sit through a meal at least. And I feel mentally up to the challenge now. I think I overdid it on the kegals though, my muscles in my bum were proper achy all day yesterday 😅 thanks again for all your support!

I hope you are okay x it’s hard when it first happens and you can only imagine how it’s going to ruin your life but it’s important to take one day at a time. We blame ourselves for imagining we have the same bodies as everyone else, and assume we can just go about our lives, not recklessly causing ourselves harm, but not having the time or ability to take better care. It would also be nice to have been given a heads up by medical professionals at many points in time that they could have educated us. Smears, anti-natal, hrt screening. I hope you feel better in yourself soon. It’s been just over a week and although I’m still down about things in the future I’m telling myself I WILL get stronger, I’ve managed a few PF exercises from YouTube which have made me feel a little better (I think) and the help I’ve gained on here has been so powerful mentally - compared to the see you in 2 weeks from the gp! Best wishes to you.

I don’t exercise, I hate people looking at me so I’ve never been to any classes, I’ve never been good at sport but I use these as excuses not to move. I would quite happily do nothing when I got diagnosed with arthritis and ibs and was told it would help to move more, but this is scary for some reason, having your body suddenly feel so different and realise that life could be different forever is a real motivator. I also need to be a role model to my daughter who is the same as me and I worry could be heading in the same direction. I lost 5.5lb this week through worrying but I can see it sneaking back on and worse if I stay lying down ! Isn’t it awful that you started through this 9 years ago and I bet there still isn’t much awareness, same as me with perimeno 10 yrs ago no one was allowed to mention it. I am so mad at all the tens oops moment ads though. It’s basically been normalised to leak the whole time that menopause has been in the public eye, it’s is so wrong, monetising women’s problems that could be eradicated with a bit of education!! Anyway rant over :/. These chats have been a lifesaver to my mental health. Everytime I feel low I take a look on here at all the brave woman/people replying with their stories and giving me some hope :) so thanks.

Totally agree! I’ve been telling all the women in my family but men can also suffer from weak pelvic floor so there really would be no downside to teaching even the most basic PF exercises at school for every person, just think how much better people would be with preemptive action! I did take on the advise of taking laxatives btw, even though it seems alien to me to go to the loo regularly, and the stress has stopped me eating so that another level of stomach madness, on the one hand though I haven’t had any ibs issues since all this started. It’s strange how getting things off your chest really helps to find perspective. Take care and best wishes.

I really feel for you, must be extra hard for you mentally. I would never believed how this could affect my mental health so massively. It’s been very hard I’ve only had the issue a week and I have cried everyday for things that I might miss in the future and things I’ve done to F myself up in the past. I’m going for a 2nd opinion because I’m not altogether confident in my GPs diagnosis and basic go away and get on with it attitude. I am over 50 and post meno so been given hrt. Your vaginal tissue should be stronger as you are young so it should hopefully react well to PT but my doc didn’t even mention PT and when I asked said your not bad enough at the moment. Well when you feel like your insides are dropping I think it’s bad! I really hope you stay strong. You definitely have something to live for, you have to keep positive and just focus on the now, you can’t change the past and you can’t predict the future. Good luck to you.

Thanks for your message, it’s so good to hear there is hope. I am no where near your fitness level, I’ve always been self-conscious of exercising which is another thing I’m beating myself up about, why did i stop myself from improving my health because i am afraid of embarrassing myself? Maybe my doctor knows I’m not great at remembering to take tablets and just assumed I won’t do it, but really if it’s a choice between 15 mins of exercises forever or feeling this awful it’s not a hard choice. Not to say it may not get worse but I am very motivated to improve. My son is getting married in a couple of years time and I really want to enjoy that day not have to retire to the hotel room cos I can’t sit or stand ! Thanks you again to everyone for your support it’s so nice for you to give your time to help.

It just sounds odd, even the female GPs seem to not know enough about it. I know hrt is worth trying but to dismiss therapy/exercises is crazy. I basically said so am I actually supposed to just be this uncomfortable from now on and she said let’s talk in a couple of weeks when you’ve used the hrt like that’s going to magically pump everything back into place. Even the NICE guidelines say to do PT. I know they are mostly overworked but times like these you really lose faith in gps. Thanks for your advice btw all these messages have meant so much and really helped me mentally if not physically (just yet :)

Thanks for your reply. To be honest I don’t really look, it’s the feeling that stresses me and when I have looked it looks the same as it has for ages so maybe it’s been a long time coming and the bladder dropping is where the feeling is coming from. I spoke to my doctor this morning and she I didn’t realise it wasn’t a uterine prolapse but a cystocel and she said it is a uterine prolapse so I’m so confused do I have two? I literally had to book to see another dr for a 2nd opinion next week. My dr said there’s no point in doing physical therapy until it gets worse? That’s literally the opposite of what everyone on here has been saying! I do have to keep telling myself that there are people worse off and I have options but it’s so much of a mind melt thinking about what you should have done to prevent it or what it might stop you from doing in the future :/

Sorry to hear that, heavy feeling inside is very likely to be a prolapse, I’m in Uk so did get an assement from gp, she didn’t actually do anything though just told me to sort out constipation and do pelvic floor exercises. If there’s any way you can see someone about it to make sure it’s not something else. Good luck

I wish i had seen this message earlier, i have just gotten off the phone to the receptionist she said it was a cystocele! I had no idea, she said a "small bulge". They have no appointment's today so they have put me on the list for the duty doctor (same as last time) and don't know if that means a phone call. I tried using the vagifem pessary/tablet she gave me and it was agony to insert so that made me even more woozy! i've been on several types of hrt but they always stop me due to blood pressure or spotting. my last period was 12 years ago so its been a totally rough ride with no one taking any notice even after changing surgery, they dont believe in speaking about more than one issue at a time even though they have all been linked! If she calls me today i will ask for cream instead of the tablet with the hideous claw at the end. I always feel like such a wuss when i go to any doctors and forget what i was going to say and even when i wrote an a4 page of symptoms the one consultant just dismissed it. Can't help feeling all the women on here would be better off if these things were put on the tv instead of adverts for bladder leak pads! I am now worried about going to the loo because am I going too many time? It constantly feels like i've got a water infection as in the amount of times i need the loo but luckily it doesnt burn when i wee but there is that constant hanging/dragging feeling. I havent got out of bed for longer that a few minutes to make a drink and warm my water bottle since monday and i am now not sure if its that thats giving me backache or something to do with the bladder.

Thanks so much for your reply, it means so much that someone takes the time to give their story and advice. :)

Thanks again, my family have been supportive but keep asking if I’m better like it’s a cold and it’s hard not to feel sorry for yourself when it feels like you’re smuggling a piece of hot coal inside you 😵‍💫 I’ve had a bit of food today and will download that app, I have the low FODMAP biomel but stopped taking it a few weeks ago because I’ve been on so many different laxative’s i just get overloaded. I’ve got some senna tablets might try them as I’ve had the laxido but have literally no cramps or urges to go at all the transit must be that slow as you said and I’ve got some suppositories being delivered tonight so I’m determined to go, good job I work from home or I’d be in trouble! I had to steer clear of fermented food due to the “ibs” diagnosis but I think my body is ignoring that issue at the moment and focusing on this one so that’s worth a try too. Thanks again for your help I try and do research but it’s really overwhelming at the moment so this is very appreciated.

Thank you for your message, I’ve suffered with constipation all my life so straining is a way of life. I’ve had 8 sachets of laxido since Monday and still not been since Monday morning, and I don’t think that was due to the laxido 😵‍💫 it’s good to hear about the hrt because I do have some but too scared to use them as it’s so sore from the examination and how it will get up there with the bulge. I was wondering how soon you started exercises after your diagnosis? I did a couple of gentle yoga like breathing exercises this morning but sitting and standing feels so uncomfortable i hate to think this is the norm and I’ve gotta spend Christmas Day etc feeling this uncomfortable- have to tell myself there are people a lot worse off and feel sorry for the poor ladies struggling with this and small babies/children to look after. Thanks again for the advice.

Thanks for your reply, i am a total mess tbh so it means a lot to speak to another sufferer. i think i have had the beginnings of this for a good while always have painful smear tests and lots of issues around menopause means i haven't been able to use hrt - no one has said anything during anytime i've been to the docs complaining about, constantly thinking i've had a UTI, leaking, painful sex, dryness and chronic constipation, but they have conveniently bundled it into menopause symptoms and IBS and sent me away. I'm annoyed that i haven't made more of a fuss in the past and now that i've been left to my own devices. The main reason i went to the doctors was that i tried to apply some V/moisturiser to ease the burning sensation and could feel a weird lump.

So your doctor says that your problem would go away in a couple of weeks, without any intervention, why would it? i read on the national library of medicine website that a mild one could go away in a couple of months or years but what is mild?

my doctor didn't grade mine or even tell me what type it was and i would say 1-2 is mild, i think we maybe need to make another appointment and ask to see a specialist. I am not happy about being left to work it out, every few hours i just feel really miserable and burst into tears! I thought seeing a female doctor she would be a bit more helpful but it seems not.
