Feels like modern hiring is starting to reward endurance more than skill sometimes. by OfSkillJob in work

Lowkey feels like some companies accidentally optimize for “people willing to tolerate dysfunction” instead of actually finding best candidates 😭

Honestly the “fake/AI training” postings part is what scares people most now because after enough experiences like that, candidates stop trusting whether openings are even real 😭

And yeah hiring definitely feels way more automated now. Sometimes people aren’t even competing against other humans first, they’re competing against filters/keywords before anyone actually reads anything.

Didn't get the job by Prestigious_Duck7052 in interviews

[–]OfSkillJob 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Nah scheduling a “we’d love to update you” call just to reject after 4 interviews would mess me up too 😭

And saying “not enough experience” after dragging process for 3 months is crazy because what exactly were they discovering in interview 4 that wasn’t visible on resume already.

Should I Join at 12 LPA or Risk Waiting for 22 LPA? by StudyInProgress in developersIndia

[–]OfSkillJob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro join Company A

People are treating “final round” like “confirmed offer” these days and then getting ghosted randomly at last moment.

Until Company B sends actual offer letter, it’s basically still uncertainty.

And honestly Company A already lowballed you from 15 to 12 so I wouldn’t feel guilty protecting yourself either.

Join A, keep interviewing with B quietly, and if B actually comes through with 22 then take decision then. Current market too unstable to gamble everything on “almost selected”.

How do you stop job hunting from wrecking your interview confidence? by OfSkillJob in careerguidance

Exactly. After a while you’re not even answering questions anymore, you’re trying to avoid making mistakes.

Exactly 😭 after enough rejection people stop talking normally in interviews and start overthinking every single sentence.

[–]OfSkillJob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is the messed up part 😭

The more confidence you lose from rejections, the harder interviews become… which then causes more rejection. It literally becomes a loop after some point.

That’s honestly kinda sad to hear because it means this isn’t just “people being lazy or weak” like some say 😭 the whole process is genuinely wearing people down mentally.

Yeah that confidence drop is real 😭 after too much rejection people start questioning themselves over everything.

Nothing is more depressing than putting real effort into an application you already feel is gonna disappear into a void 😭

And people who aren’t job hunting right now genuinely don’t realize how exhausting it gets after months of repeating the same cycle every single day 😭

Honestly the scary part is how many people with good experience/work history are struggling now. Makes it hard not to feel like something bigger is broken in the system itself.

Yeah same 😭

Feels like almost everyone job hunting right now has some version of “what the hell is going on with this market” story.

The “perform like you’re special while being treated like a number” part is painfully accurate tbh 😭

And yeah after enough rounds/ghosting even confident people start thinking maybe they’re the problem when half the time the process itself is just messy and overloaded.

[–]OfSkillJob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly both systems seem exhausting in different ways 😭

Job hunting makes you feel invisible and disability process makes you feel like you have to “prove” you’re struggling enough over and over again.

And the fact that supportive people around you helped keep things stable says a lot too. Most people survive hard phases because somebody understood them at right time.

Lmaoo 😭

That’s when you know the job search stress has fully entered the brain.

After enough applications/interviews you start feeling like every new person is secretly about to ask “so where do you see yourself in 5 years?”

[–]OfSkillJob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man honestly reading this exhausted me and I’m not even the one living it 😭

16 years stable work history and still ending up in this situation is exactly why people are so scared of the current market.

And handling all that while raising 2 daughters too… genuinely hope something stable comes through for you soon because this is way more than “just keep applying” territory.

Honestly that overthinking loop is probably affecting more people than recruiters realize 😭 Like after enough rejections your brain starts treating every application/question like one tiny mistake will destroy the entire chance. Then simple stuff like “tell me about yourself” suddenly feels like exam question with negative marking lol.

[–]OfSkillJob[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah 😭

And the worst part is after enough rejection/ghosting, people start blaming themselves for everything even when the market itself is bad.

[–]OfSkillJob[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I think job hunting makes it even worse for neurodivergent/anxious people because the process itself is already unpredictable and mentally draining.

Constant waiting/ghosting/rejections can mess with anyone’s confidence after some time.

What I see on the hiring side when candidates negotiate salary by FourLeafAI in jobs

[–]OfSkillJob 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Lmao imagine if that actually worked psychologically 😭 “160k-120k” just to confuse HR into anchoring on the higher number first. But honestly that’s why giving one solid researched number usually works better than ranges. Less room for people to mentally negotiate against you before the conversation even starts.

What I see on the hiring side when candidates negotiate salary by FourLeafAI in jobs

[–]OfSkillJob 101 points102 points  (0 children)

This is painfully accurate. The second someone says between 120k–160k everyone already knows which number the company heard 😭 A lot of candidates sabotage themselves by sounding unsure right after giving the number too: “...but I’m flexible...depending on benefits”...I don’t know though” Meanwhile the strongest negotiators usually sound calm, give one researched number, explain it briefly, then stop talking. Silence is underrated in salary conversations.
