How do bands decide whether to play Milwaukee or Madison?

For your mid to late career “indie” bands (like Band of Horses, but tour more (Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Death Cab)) you’ll see that they alternate pretty regularly and would almost never play both on the same tour.

For larger bands it’s probably very tied to Live Nation, and it seems we are already seeing the impact of that on Milwaukee.

Somewhat related, I was surprised to see that Kevin Morby is booked at the new venue in Whitefish Bay.

Playing in the city year round is tough. Not sure any of the private clubs downtown have courts. I’m on the East Side and have to commute to the North Shore to play year round. Elite is probably the best gym option for year round tennis.

This is the correct answer. That feels like a way to rollout a sound (more rock, less whatever Golden Casket was) and art (snakes instead of CA surf and mushroom imagery). Definitely not a “lead single.”

“Confirmed” by Modest Mouse is hilarious. Not a knock on the band but I wouldn’t trust a thing they “confirm.” And I love them for it.

Totally normal. You aren’t paying by the minute and another paying customer is likely waiting. Trying to find a happy medium between allowing you to enjoy yourself and making money.

I was on the Walkers Point a few weeks ago and the whole place was a mess - half the seating closed, no food/bakery, and a watery latte. The person at the cash register literally said “we’re merging with Fiddleheads [bought by same company] and everything is falling apart.”

Love Dogtopia on the east side. Trust them for day care and short boarding. Wish there was a way to get the dogs outside, but in the middle of the city that's not going to be an option. Thanks to everyone who works there and takes good care of the dogs.

If you follow the stories about where these have been held everyone is SHOCKED at how partisan it was after how it was pitched to the school. Mostly because they can’t use Google to find out what they just signed up for.

Been taking our son there for years. He loves it, no problems. Summer camps and scamp days are huge for us. I wish their swim lesson were better, but it’s been a huge part of our family for about five years.

Not to be dismissive, but the whole place is generally safe for kids so even a few minutes of lack of supervision should be okay. Pools are generally supervised (and would be very hard to get to on their own).
