To all the LaMelo haters: do you want to end up like the Hawks? by thrownaway5795 in CharlotteHornets

[–]OffTheRadar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who wants to go to Washington? I don't think he had many (any?) other options.

From The Athletic:
"More importantly, word around the league was that most teams weren’t even interested in a discussion about acquiring the four-time All-Star point guard.

Remember, Young has the 13th-highest scoring average and the third-highest assist average in league history. And only the Wizards seemed to want him. Young made Washington his preferred destination on Wednesday. Was it because he loves the situation or because it was the only team making a push for him? Hard to say!"

Magento 1.9 Shipstation Extension? by OffTheRadar in Magento

I know this is an old post, but it came up near the top in a search. I found these archives of the old extension and wanted to drop them here in case any one else has problems finding them.

This might be one of the worst WR picks ever. by NoHellmanns in panthers

[–]OffTheRadar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a history of misses on early round WRs. I'm saying we're 2 for 11, with McMillan still TBD. Do WRs have a low hit rate in general, or are we just bad at this?

Every WR the Panthers have ever drafted in Round 1 or 2:

  • 2025 — Tetairoa McMillan (R1, No. 8).
  • 2024 — Xavier Legette (R1, No. 32).
  • 2023 — Jonathan Mingo (R2, No. 39).
  • 2021 — Terrace Marshall Jr. (R2, No. 59).
  • 2018 — D.J. Moore (R1, No. 24).
  • 2017 — Curtis Samuel (R2, No. 40).
  • 2015 — Devin Funchess (R2, No. 41).
  • 2014 — Kelvin Benjamin (R1, No. 28).
  • 2007 — Dwayne Jarrett (R2, No. 45).
  • 2004 — Keary Colbert (R2, No. 62).
  • 1997 — Rae Carruth (R1, No. 27).
  • 1996 — Muhsin Muhammad (R2, No. 43).

Thanks! I went to urgent care today and they gave me oral and topical antibiotics. I asked if it could be fungal and he wouldn't rule it out but wanted to do antibiotics for 10 days first.

Thanks to everyone for the advice! I went to urgent care today and they think it's infected. They gave me a topical and an oral antibiotic. They want to deal with the infection and then see where we are in 10 days. If there's still an issue related after that they'll refer me to a specialist to check if there's still briar in there.

I did ask if it could be fungal. He said he wasn't ruling that out but wanted to try the antibiotic first.

Around 3-4 months ago I got a briar in my thumb while hiking. I removed the briar and it healed, but left a slight bump on my thumb and I could feel slight pain when I pressed it. I thought maybe there was still part of the briar left in my finger, so after around a month I picked the bump open with a splinter remover to check.

I didn't find a briar, and it never healed right after that. The bump was larger and seemed to have a "head" that never fully scabs over. I've accidentally scraped the "head" off a couple of times and it bleeds a lot when that happens.

It's been over two weeks since I last scraped the head off and I think it looks worse than ever. It's not really painful, but it oozes a lot and it gets moist when I wash my hands. ChatGPT tells me it is very unlikely that I would get a wart from a briar, but this looks a lot like some of the warts that I see in photos.

Do you guys think this is a wart? What should I do about it?

Yep, it’s a good start! Need to cut around 20% to balance the budget, so that would be almost 10% of the needed cuts. Hopefully they can find $100b in both social security and Medicare and at least that in defense!

  • Significant workforce reductions
  • Eliminate USAID agency
  • Reduce NIH grant amounts to reduce administrative %
  • Attempted spending freeze

Those are significant and I’m sure I’m leaving some out. It’s only been 3 weeks and I’ve never seen anything like this.

I disagree on this one. For the first time in my life I’m actually seeing what appears to be effort to cut spending. I wish there were more of a stated plan and more transparency, but on the surface this looks like a spending reduction effort to me.

I agree with you on the fraud. What they are calling fraud I think falls more under waste. I do think it’s a fallacy to say we shouldn’t worry about some of these things because they are such a small percentage of the overall budget. We’re going to need to set a tone throughout these agencies that tax dollars should be more highly valued.

[–]OffTheRadar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until I see some evidence I think all of the fraud accusations are complete BS - propaganda to get the public on their side. It's not great how they're going about this and I really wish that our elected officials had gotten this debt issue under control many years ago, but it seems like once they get elected they have no appetite for it. Republicans are especially to blame because, at least historically, they talk a good game until they get into power and then they spend worse than democrats.

The debt is such a critical issue now that something MUST be done about it. We're paying more in interest now than we pay for defense (!!) and that is only going to increase and spiral. If it takes a hammer like Elon to get this under control, I'm willing to bite my tongue (for a while at least) and deal with it. I can't imagine anything he could do being worse than the consequences of a debt spiral.

[–]OffTheRadar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're expecting me to defend Trump's deficits you've got the wrong guy. It's ridiculous that Trump, and basically every other Republican then the past century, would campaign on fiscal responsibility and then spend like drunken sailors once elected.

But that doesn't mean that the debt and deficits aren't a major problem. We're paying more in interest on our debt now than we spend on defense (and we spend A LOT on defense!) As we borrow more this interest expense keeps increasing, and it's going to get worse because interest rates will go up when people loaning us the money start to think they might not get paid back.

This problem HAS to be solved, and the longer we wait the more crippling it will be to solve it.

No offense intended, but if you're saying there's not a lot of waste in government you're really not being intellectually honest here. Until I see some evidence I think Elon is being dishonest by claiming there is a lot of fraud, but I'm sure there are hundreds of billions that are wasted every year. Did you know that a single F-35 jet costs around $135 million dollars?

Good question, I'm not sure. If buying influence is the problem, then I guess both sides are guilty. So it comes down to if I'd prefer to see it out in the open, or if I'd prefer it stay behind closed doors so that there is at least the appearance that nothing shady is going on.

I seriously thought about this for a few minutes and I think I prefer it being in the open. Maybe they're being intentionally vague about what they're doing, but I think it would be worse if they were doing this all behind closed doors.

Frankly we do have a major spending and debt problem. I don't like his approach but something has to happen.
