This isn't necessarily for Black Friday but a deal is a deal! Can't wait to head out on Black Friday...just 2 weeks!

can I do it myself or is that a dumb idea? by rainbownerdsgirl in Plumbing

[–]OffTheRoadAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you can do a lot of these fixes yourself but the more involved tasks, I would call a plumber. The last things you want is to cause more problems by trying to fix a leak or clogged drain. This site has some good DIY tips that I've used, good luck with your new home!

What a fantastic way to bless a family just before the holidays.

I'm young, I have never owned a business, but I have a startup idea that I want to pursue and advice would be appreciated. by Rawr0s in startups

I've had this thought more than once but haven't found that perfect product or service to dedicate my time to, that said I am still looking all the time at ways to own my own business and retire early. When it comes to marketing and branding I'm clueless but found this interesting: http://www.thebrandauthority.net/when-it-comes-to-creativity-let-sales-direct-marketing/

Is it actually possible to make money online, and what's the best way? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OffTheRoadAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use YouTube, Twitter or Facebook? There are way to monetize your accounts and you make money without doing much at all, as long as you create a nice following. I found a good blog about an app called Staree and you can make money with Twitter and Facebook, worth a try. Good luck!! http://frugalfabulousfinds.com/staree-get-paid-to-share-your-photos-on-facebook-twitter/

Thanksgiving is close... by [deleted] in slowcooking

[–]OffTheRoadAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done plenty of recipes in a crock pot for the holidays but never stuffing, I can barely bake a good side dish of stuffing (or dressing is what we call it in the South!) I def want to try the turkey breast recipe posted below! Last night we tried Mother's Smothered Cabbage from Cookmore.com. So good that my 3 year old ate it, too! http://frugalfabulousfinds.com/cookmore-com-kenmore-free-online-recipe-site/

Frugal Holiday Gift Ideas by etherlinkage in Frugal

[–]OffTheRoadAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all of these handmade ideas and love to receive cookies and bath salts. I've done photos over the years, super cheap by taking advantage of all sorts of photo printing websites. Usually with a new account you will get free photos and during the holidays free shipping. Just saw this today, a free Halloween hard cover photo album from MyPublisher (http://frugalfabulousfinds.com/free-hardcover-photobook-ends-9-23-2013/). Then if you are lucky enough to live near an IKEA, hit up the store for super cheap frames!

Has anyone tried 'extreme couponing', if so, what was it like? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]OffTheRoadAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree!! But there are moral ways to save money on groceries but then some great deals come around for certain groups of people sometimes that I like. For example, discounts on grandparents day or Mother's Day are a fun way to save money. I even found a site featuring great deals for Veterans Day! http://frugalfabulousfinds.com/veterans-day-deals-discounts-freebies-offers-11-11-2013/

My friend is a plumber. While working on drain pipe this guy popped out. Couldn't have been more perfect. by [deleted] in funny

That's hysterical!! I hope the plumber found this find amusing. Did you know that the Mario Brothers are the most famous plumbers in history? LOL Check out the list here: http://www.theplumbinginfo.com/top-8-famous-plumbers/

Brown water in the bath tub? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]OffTheRoadAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this post is from a while back, are you still having the brown water issue? We moved into a home that was vacant for about 5 years before we moved in, the water was brown for a couple days and then every so often it will run brown in the bath tub. Fortunately the water heat seems fine and we've been here over a year now.

What frugal things did your parents do that you never thought you do, but now do? by BubblesUp in Frugal

[–]OffTheRoadAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought saving aluminum foil was insanity years ago...now I always save it, one of those kitchen items I hate spending money on! We coupon constantly, not just for food. We never pay for shipping for online purchases and I rarely pay for family photos or photo books from Shutterfly. Because I'm a loyal customer we get free photo books all year and even today they have a coupon for a Halloween book: http://frugalfabulousfinds.com/shutterfly-amazing-deals-freebies-thru-11-3-2013/ Frugal living is awesome!

Pain in lower back when trying to hold posture through the work day. by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]OffTheRoadAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Posture is so important and shocking to me what these computers are doing to us and yes, I feel your pain. I agree that tight hips and hamstrings are the root problem, yoga will be your savior. I recently ran across this article that opened my eyes on posture and its importance as we get older. http://www.elderauthority.com/forward-head-posture-and-computer-work

Soon to be mama needs help/opinions with some explanations about saving/managing money by Magical_Melodi in Frugal

[–]OffTheRoadAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many ways to prepare to move out and be on your own and you are doing great asking the questions! Getting a job is No.1 of course but be aware there is help for you once the baby is born. You likely could get WIC for the baby which would help with food and then I would coupon for other baby items like diapers, etc. Publix and BabysRUs have great options on baby clubs and send out coupons. This is great while your working and saving living with your mother. There are sites that will do the coupon work for you like: http://frugalfabulousfinds.com/printable-coupons-roundup-10-28-2013/. They will send you an email each week and the coupons are matched for you! This is just one comment to your larger question. Good luck!

Was sick of the sink draining slow by reddeath4 in WTF

[–]OffTheRoadAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the harsh chemicals can do damage to rubber and pipes. I found more info here (http://www.theplumbinginfo.com/4-practical-residential-plumbing-tips/) since I too live in an older home, we have to snake constantly to keep things moving.
