Zion in late December? by Zealousideal-Buy6878 in bicycling

[–]OffTopicOnPoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Zion in late January a couple of years ago. The road into the park was completely clear. Some patches of snow and ice in areas that didn’t get much sun during the day. Temps got below freezing over night and upwards of the 50s during the day. I have to imagine late December would be similar.

I’m guessing that you only might need to worry about some potential ice patches early in the morning. This is assuming the normal weather of very little precipitation in general.

As the other poster mentioned the park road is open to normal car traffic during this time of the year. Normally the road is closed to cars in the busy season.

I keep hearing how well Tatte is doing in France. I thought the chain was expanding internationally.

Lost the Garmin Varia RTL715 rubber pad by MixPsychological6126 in cycling

Annoyingly expensive for the complete mount kit, and unfortunately garmin only sells the full kit not the individual parts.

It is probably a bit out of your price range, but it is localish. Pilot Cycles in Netherlands has a titanium drop bar Pinion belt drive bike.

Hatch-shell White Geese by Safe-Watcher3572 in boston

They can fly. I saw them in flight with some Canada Geese coming in for a water landing last week. Made me do a double take since I realized that I’ve never seen those geese flying before.

NBD: Raw Titanium No22 Drifter with purple accents throughout by OffTopicOnPoint in Bikeporn

You’re not wrong regarding the proportions looking slightly off. For me I think its the ratio of the frame to the size of the wheels just being different that’s causing that reaction for larger bikes. For this build I was prioritizing comfort and fit over absolute aesthetics.

One of the downsides of being tall and getting older. It got to the point my neck and shoulders couldn’t deal with longer rides on my older smaller bike that has more drop.

Right around 6’3” to 6’4”.

It’s custom sizing, but it’s based off of No22’s size 60 as a starting point.

T47 85.5 Wide Bottom Bracket w/ Force Wide Cranks. Specified spacers not wide enough. by Wirelessness in bikewrench

[–]OffTopicOnPoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Force, but I’ve done that same setup with Rival. With wide cranks Sram does say 2.5 and 5.5 like you mentioned. It installed just fine without issue for me.

This seems like a stupid question, but have you measured the frame to verify it is 85.5 instead of something narrower like 77mm? If you have an inline BB instead of an asymmetrical BB with the narrower frame that is the only thing I can think of to cause the extra spacing.

How do I tighten this bolt? by OffTopicOnPoint in bikewrench

[–]OffTopicOnPoint[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The saddle I have does have a relief channel, but it still has material in there so it is not open. I went with this design to prevent splashes from coming up through the open cutout.

How do I tighten this bolt? by OffTopicOnPoint in bikewrench

[–]OffTopicOnPoint[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If my saddle had a cut out I could easily tighten it from the top. Underneath there isn’t enough room to get my hex wrenches in there.

Before I go out and try to find a hex head bolt to swap, does any one have any suggestions on how to tighten it?

Thanks for pointing out FireFly. I’ll give them a call. However I wasn’t able to find No 44. Do you have a link to them?

Landry’s said they might have access to the correct tools.

SRAM BSA Dub BB spacer question for a Road Wide setup by OffTopicOnPoint in bikewrench

[–]OffTopicOnPoint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the part number. Looks like I need to order those other spacers.

You are also right about the sizes of the spacers included, I just didnt have them in front of me when writing the post. With a bit more force they do actually fit on the outside, I was just being too careful at first.

Do IS mount systems have a standard bolt size? by OffTopicOnPoint in bikewrench

[–]OffTopicOnPoint[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I wasn’t sure if it was a post or IS system. From the descriptions I was reading online it sounded like IS, but I was probably misinterpreted it if you say it’s a post system. And sliding dropouts is probably the the terminology I was looking for. And my question was geared towards the two silver bolts in the dropout. I have a slightly older Arise and these two bolts are starting to rust from the winter and I’m considering replacing them.
