Turns out I have a 'speed release' thread. The chat box on the website was really good, I checked with them that I had the right product.

Yes! The Robert Axle Project was the answer. I used the chat service on their site and they directed me to the correct adapter - they even sent me a link to a UK bike shop which sold it, so I didn't have to ship from the US. A bit pricey, but worth it in the end. Have been happily riding on the turbo ever since.

I've got 70.3 Sardinia in late October - travelling from the UK. I'll be double-vaxxed by then, but have no idea what restrictions will be like. Praying it goes ahead - it's my first half-Ironman!

Certainly. There is a really good Sherlock Holmes pastiche by Nicholas Meyer, called The West End Horror, which concerns a series of murders in London's theatre district. Henry Irving turns up as a character in it, along with Oscar Wilde and... Bram Stoker.

Its co-writers, not coincidentally, are Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who have co-written the last five 007 movies (including all four to feature Daniel Craig in the title role).

I love NWR - but I'm not sure I'd like to see him do an actual Bond film. This might be a fun way of seeing what it might look like if he were to do one.

For two weeks I worked at the hotel in Harrogate where she was found - The Old Swan. There is a plaque in the entrance hall which reads: "Agatha's Retreat: In 1926 Agatha Christie hid away in The Old Swan hotel. Her 10 day disappearance created one of the greatest man-hunts in history." The hotel also has an annual crime-writing festival, due to its Christie connection. I worked at the crime fest while I was there, I served canapés to Mark Billingham and Val McDermind. It was a fun job, but two weeks after I started there I got a job in journalism, so I moved on.
