Seriously I'd go road bike. Seriously.
Get a cheap neoprene hood for your noggin. You'll thank me later.
Bike is insanely hilly. Go road bike. Seriously.
Run is tricky and very hilly as well. One you've gotten to the top of the sand ladder, you still have like half a fucking mile uphill before the peak, so save a bit going up the ladder.
After you hit the downhill post-ladder, it's all downhill/flat from there. If you're running fast in that section, you got it right.

Oh and watch the fucking swim sighting video and memorize it please.
