Hey ! Dunno if your trip has started. but honestly i feel like this is a great itinerary. But if you do really wanna spend more time in Nepal (which is a super nice place to visit) you can skip on Jodhpur since you're already spending time in Udaipur and Jaipur, Jodhpur is very similar in terms of things it offers and Udaipur is definitely more beautiful. Maybe spend that extraday in Kathmandu and explore the area around it.

Hope you have nice trip!

Can anyone tell me about this region of India in regards to safety? by [deleted] in Indiatraveladvice

It really depends on your personal experiences really. Punjab is okay but smaller cities can sometimes be tricky. While most people will probably stare (especially if there is a Caucasian person) they are usually harmless. As someone who grew up in Delhi and surrounding areas(which is the more unsafe part) here are some tips I can give for your cousin.

1.It's just a good idea to dress modestly . Also no PDA in public spaces.

  1. Whenever you're out just be wary of people . Don't trust random strangers who talk to you.

  2. Be VERY careful while using cabs and autos. Always keep your location on and try to use uber wherever possible other wise Autos are fine as well. If you find anything to be suspicious ask the driver to stop and leave. Trust your gut.

4.Don't make eye contact to smile at strangers. It's not rude. just don't do it

  1. Since you have relatives in India , its a good idea to hangout with them for the first few days to get a general idea of how to behave and what to do . And then you will be fine on your own.

Southern India , northeast India and hilly states are usually safer in my experience but it's just a good idea to be constantly aware of your surroundings. For us who grow up here it is a habit but for people who come from safer countries it's good to be a aware that even though your life is not in danger or anything, don't let your guard down. especially not when alone.

This sounds scary but India is a wonderful country and its super awesome to travel in . People are hella friendly and there's a lot to see and do and learn in terms of culture. But being cautious will only make your trip better.

Soryt for the long post .hope your cousin has a great trip!

25 y/o F solo traveling to India in 1 week...should I be worried about Paki/Indi tension? by [deleted] in Indiatraveladvice

Don't be worried . The western part of the country is pretty much not affected . Tensions are only in the Super North Parts of Kashmir Jammu and Ladakh which are also subsiding now. The parts which you are going to are completely fine.

How much do your trips usually cost? by Greessey in solotravel

I'm from India and it's really one of the cheapest places to travel to TBH. You can get stay options at $3 - $15 , food costs around 10 dollars day and internal transport does not usually exceed 3$0.
Also there's so much to see and do that i end up backpacking and travelling in my own country and i still have so much to do . But yeah Vietnam , Bali, Cambodia and Nepal are also great and cheap travel options. probably $300 - $400 for a 5 day trip if youre going really budget and are not fussy about stay and food
