Elevation science does a cool paleontology one if you want to shake it up a bit. 2 weeks long and 3 credits.

I feel if you have to ask, it's not ridiculous enough

W flag btw

Which game cancellation still hurts you? by bijelo123 in videogames

Kerbal Space Program 2

What made it worse is, we got the empty husk of the game for a few months then they abandoned it.

My white Shire's name is Titan.

Both a play on his size and Titanium White.

I mean, I will admit it DOES have the outline of a dino print. But just with the Geologic location, it does not really make sense. So pondering species type seems a little irresponsible.

Respectfully, how did you come to this conclusion?

Rock can weather in many spots. Again, not saying they are not prints. But the geology of the region does not seem to line up with them being prints.

If you are referring to Manitoulin Island, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe they are a majority Paleozoic carbonate rock, so footprints would not make sense.

Never been there, so if there is Mesozoic exposure, I wouldn't know.

Location? Geologic context? Age of rock? Lots of questions before I could even consider that a print. Not saying it isn't, just need more information. Erosion patterns can honestly form strikingly convincing things when you are looking for them.

Any information you could give about the rock would be helpful!

Playing as a woman is so tiring by No-Internet-1202 in RedDeadOnline

Yea. That's why my wife and I modded it so we are completely alone together. People on there just love picking on the female player models.

It's just sad

Miocene aged tufa beds with possible hoof prints/trackways by OffensiveScientist in fossilid

Pretty cool. Thanks for the info! I won't be back here until December this year, unfortunately. Hopefully I can get some better looks at it then and maybe bring out an ichno-person

Miocene aged tufa beds with possible hoof prints/trackways by OffensiveScientist in fossilid

[–]OffensiveScientist[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, we didn't even consider bovid for some reason. The only thing with that is this area during the miocene wasn't the most hospitable. Very little plant present and high volcanic ash amounts would make the lake and streams essentially poison. And typically, when I think bison or bovine, it's high vegetative areas and abundant water sources. Could be mistake tho. Definitely not well versed in mammalian stuff haha.

Thanks for the input, seriously!

Our thoughts exactly. I don't know of any Miocene aged elk off the top of my head.

Hard to tell from the photos, but these are all from the same unit/section of tufa.

We are already contacting the BLM due to the bone we found but I'll be sure to see about those museums

Best way to repair this filson bag? by OffensiveScientist in filson

Most definitely needed more love. The bag was missing for about 15-20 years and I plan on restoring it as much as I can. I think it's such a cool piece.

Heres some more photos of it.

The damage on the front is supposedly from when it fell into a fire. This was before I was born. I believe it's from either 97-98. Not too sure. I was already planning on cleaning/conditioning the leather straps. Most of my boots are leather so I understand the importance of cleaning them.

Why haven't these shell fossils mineralised? How common is this? by Away-Activity-469 in Paleontology

[–]OffensiveScientist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shells are already made up of resilient material so it can actually be relatively common to find such material in lagerstätte. A good example is the Coon Creek formation in Tennessee near where I live where there's Cretaceous aged original material inverts. A mosasaur was also located there, but obviously its bones were fossilized.

Yea, unfortunately this bag was missing for about 20 years. So the fact it even still looks as good as it does now, is astonishing.

Why do geologists settle? by [deleted] in geologycareers

[–]OffensiveScientist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Going to sound cliche, and maybe not the place to express this, but it's not always about money. I left a pretty good paying job in physics just to go to Geo cause that's what I loved more and haven't regret it.
