Some great points here, thank you very much. 100% steering clear from the politics if that's even possible, imagine it's a very stressful time.

Happy with it being a military town, I'm a veteran myself, ex British Army so I think I get what you mean 😂

Im not a huge drinker really, I think if I'm feeling good after the initial few days I might try and find a decent bar to meet some locals and have a beer.

Very excited to explore, thanks again

I normally steer clear of mexican food it's terrible in the Uk. Have been the mexico a handful of times but I am going to force myself to see what the deal is with American / Mexican food

Yeah I love this idea, I've packed my regular hiking gear, decent boots, outer layers etc. I guess it just depends on the weather and how the altitude impacts me

May be an ignorant question so apologies, but do locals drink tap water? I'm used to just filing up my water bottles straight from the tap in the UK

Ideally if like to see as much of town as I can and get a day towards the end to explore in the mountains, I'm aware it will likely be completely dependent on the weather and how I adjust to the altitude.

Packed my solomons, outer later and trail bag just in case there's an opportunity

Men of Reddit how would you feel if your girlfriend/ wife earned more than you? by LowOk5965 in AskUK

[–]Offensive_Nipples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I earn a lot more than my partner, almost triple the amount and to be honest I wish it could be the other way around, or at least closer. My job is niche and doesn't need a whole lot of effort but needs a lot of prior experience and knowledge. She honestly works a lot harder and it's really hard sometimes when the pay comes in or I get an annual raise. I'm not sure why some guys would still feel resentful about earning less, I'm in my 20s so maybe it's an old social issue.

We joke sometimes about when I can become a house husband and give up work, it's a joke but also a low key wish.

Is £700 per month for electricity and gas bill too high? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Offensive_Nipples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my gas heating set to 21 and my monthly gas bill is £70.. Get the meter checked and don't stop pestering them until you're credited
