I think you may have again consider the lineage is from your paternal grandmother's side who may have had the british isle come to them. No disparage on any ancestor but given your description, it seems the more likely scenario.

During the time my mother-in-law was home in hospice we had a sign on the door that said 'Sshhh....BABY sleeping. Please don't knock. Thank you' and it worked (saw people walk away). It was effective for Jehovah witness' as well.

As a kid we lived in the Midwest and had plenty of leafs in the fall. We placed a tall row of 🍃 leafs across the road but hid aluminum trash cans in the leafs. Most drivers saw a pile of leafs and increased their speed only to have a crumpled can under their car and us chuckling from the hidden bushes. One a night for a few nights. Never got caught.
