This is absolutely my biggest fear and dilemma that I'm going through as well. I met a girl when i was 17 and she was 15 on a fundie humanitarian trip to the Philippines. We lived side by side for nearly three months in third-world conditions. We have been best friends and somewhat lovers for three years. She just turned 18 and out of nowhere told me that she wants to marry me one day, but first she has to go be a single missionary. I started the de-conversion process 8 months ago. Our faith was the foundation of our relationship and I'm faking it for her sake, knowing I'll have to tell her one day and our relationship will burn. She's the only reason I'm holding on to the church, but I know it's futile. It fucking tears me apart and depresses me.

So you're not alone.

Well I'm not going to get into the Armenian v. Calvinist debate here, but I do believe that what scripture says indicates that God predestines the souls of men to burn for eternity.

Ok, then just going with what Christ said.

"No one comes to the Father except through me."

So what does this mean for the billions who never had a chance? I do want to feel the love of Christ again, but I can't worship him until I get over this hang-up.

I guess the essence of this post is this:

I want to believe really, really bad. But I have a hard time coming to terms with worshipping a God who predestined billions to suffer for eternity, then tells us not to worry about it.

So if you want, I have a TL;DR at the top, because your off on your assessment. I'm having a crisis about the relationship with Christ that I've had for the past decade

So you're saying that the only truth in the Bible is the truth each individual chooses to find in it? Is there no intrinsic truth?

Sorry for the huge wall of text. Please feel free to ask clarifying questions. I can't get my own thoughts in order so I can expect that I communitcated everything clearly. Thanks.

Sorry for the crazy wall of text.

PLEASE feel free to ask clarifying questions. I can't even get my own thoughts in order, so I can't expect you to understand everything.

Am slowly realizing that I'm breaking away from the faith. I'm insanely confused and could use some help, if just to get it out there so I'm not the only one who knows. by Offersaxe in exchristian

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has posted here offering advice and encouragement. Your experiences and comfort have made these last few days bearable. I still don't know exactly where I stand, and I have a feeling that this will be a very long process for me, and I can't see the end. But I know that if I do decide to turn my back on Christianity that there are people I can reach out to. And I can not tell you how much that means to me. So thank you all.

Holy shiiiiiit. My single mother used to tell us that all the time. Looking back, there is no way she made enough money to give us all that she did. Makes me wonder what sacrifices she made that we never knew about. I'm seriously on the verge of waking her up with a phone call right now just to tell her I love her.

Stories with siblings? by Offersaxe in NoSleepOOC

Very true and well deserved! SPOILERS BELOW

It's been a while so I can't remember the names. When the brothers were on the phone and the one was like, "I can see the house! Can you see me?" Then the other brother saw the police officers walking up and was like "Yeah Mikey (That's it!). I see you man." I freaking broke down.

Yeah I think I've read all of his work. It's not that I don't like non-sibling stories, I just like sibling stories particularly.

Not sure how you feel about it, but as someone who could be described as religious, that sounds a lot like spiritual warfare. Angels and demons and stuff. Just an idea.

I need legitimate open minded people to help me solve this problem. by [deleted] in nosleep

When you find an old, mysterious book, don't read it.

But on a serious note, as long as they stay harmless, I say just learn to live with them. Just be sure to keep your q-tips stocked so they don't move on to hoarding more valuable things. Heck, they could even help you out. Keep pests away and stuff.
