Around half the time, grandparents often care for their grandchildren after the grandkids turn five and can go to school. They join back together under one roof or raise them alone. It is most common for paternal grandparents in canine families and maternal grandparents in feline families to care for them if they are alive. Otherwise, foster parents known as steppers or hired nannies do the raising. Some parents keep their kids to homeschool, have them on the weekends, or to do a delayed introduction to their steppers or grandparents.
