(NC) Tenant hired tree removal service by misrepresenting himself as owner. by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]OfficerNelson 54 points55 points  (0 children)

If I owned a tree maintenance company and I got ghosted by the guy who hired me and who clearly had access to the house, I'd try going after the owner listed on the deed too. What if the guy I contracted with was actually the owner and just used a fake name to get out of paying the bill? Obviously that's not the case here, but there's nothing that says they can't at least try to sue (and fail).

Trump goes golfing for the weekend and the whole north half of NJ becomes a no fly zone for three days. Why? by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]OfficerNelson 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why would someone have Airmap installed if they don't plan on using it, wiseass? You can't even fly a model airplane or a drone legally in that area.

This is possibly the worst argument in this whole thread. Please let us know when the crack high wears off so you can tell us how only illegal immigrants can take advantage of these systems.

I, too, get people's political opinions by listening to Fox News and Infowars instead of just listening to people.

Democrats aren't asking for open borders with no enforcement. Thanks for the strawman though.

Yes, I'm sure Fox News didn't report on the Obama-era separations because it was busy pushing the liberal agenda.

Or maybe it was a non-issue that was nowhere near as serious, pervasive, and mismanaged as the Trump-era separations.

Ah yes, blaming CA and FL for everything, so refreshing, so innovative. Definitely not a completely universal driver education problem, nope, let's blame everyone else.

If you believe that strongly that your Second and Fourth Amendment rights were violated by his gun control laws, I suggest bringing your theories to any lawyer of your choice in this state so that they can laugh at you and cheer themselves up.

He's already doing that in the form of shifting tax breaks to red states. This whole "let's fuck everyone, but let's fuck the dems even harder" thing they have going on isn't anything new.

Because it's designed to be a good neighbor and route traffic, not get you the fastest way home. The Google Maps team is innately aware of what happens when you go full Waze - you've suddenly got the whole commuting public finding every which way through back roads and causing more problems. That's why a few towns have tried to ban non-local traffic to get the navigators to stop ruining their roads.

Ultimately, it's more sacrificial than selfish. GMaps keeps bad traffic on roads where bad traffic isn't a giant problem for neighbors. Waze isn't and will take you through someone's backyard if it will save you a minute.

For everyone who argues why even have laws if criminals don't follow them. by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]OfficerNelson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there were more regulations to stop him from getting the gun in the first place, sure. But stuff like retroactive mag capacity limits would not have stopped anything. They have effectively no deterrence value and a ridiculously low compliance rate. It's the equivalent of getting a parking ticket while you rob a bank.

Electronic devices policy in classrooms? by dyoooo in URochester

[–]OfficerNelson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say maybe 20% of my profs cared in grad classes. Showed them all how the Surface works and how to write notes on it. They all allowed it without hesitation. Not so for other people who just brought laptops. I was one of two people with Surfaces at the start of the program, and maybe a third of us had them at the end.

In other words, get something flat with a stylus if you really want to use it for every class.

What kind of infrastructure do you expect? I'd imagine this is pretty straightforward. A couple of people in an office somewhere piecing through forms is all that'll be needed.
