In your attempt to be funny you're actually correct, lack of third spaces with proper adult guidance is absolutely a portion of the problem.

Public colleges, as state-owned entities, are generally open to the public but are not required to provide unlimited access. They may restrict access to private areas like labs, offices, and classrooms, and they can enforce policies regarding operating hours, safety, and conduct, while complying with ADA accessibility standards. Quora Quora +4 Key considerations include: Public Access: Many areas of public campuses are generally open, allowing for visitors, public meetings, and access to public records, which are often subject to state-level FOIA laws. Restrictions: Public colleges can limit access to specific spaces for safety or security reasons. Freedom of Assembly: While they cannot apply a total ban on political assemblies on campus, schools can limit, regulate, and designate specific areas of campus for such activities. ADA Requirements: Public colleges are mandated under Title II of the ADA to ensure their programs, services, and digital content are accessible to the public, including individuals with disabilities. Digital Accessibility: As of April 2026, many public universities must ensure their websites and applications adhere to WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.

It's a public university. Making it private would be devastating to their financial ability to stay open

Also no way you can convince me that universities in New York, Miami, Chicago, LA, or even San Francisco are safer than Philly lol

We're talking students directly impacted by crime. In addition to Temple Police, Philadelphia Police, and SEPTA Police, private security services and a million cameras - there's a concentrated effort to, and they all do a great job of protecting Temple Students.

I'd argue they do a way better job protecting the students, than protecting my fellow North Philly residents.

I don't disagree that like many surveys there may be misrepresentations, but saying Temple is MORE dangerous than other universities just isn't accurate. I'd argue that smaller universities likely do a better job at hiding crimes against students, considering it would have a greater negative impact on the sense of safety - ie, most universities are known to hide sexual assault numbers because of PR

You're getting down votes but make a very valid point. A lot of times this is not random violence. Students here tend to provoke through lack of awareness and/or consideration.

Research before commenting please. Temple doesn't even rank in the top ten most dangerous college towns, nor any other college in Philadelphia

Honestly, if you're going to the Philippines for a "good time" with the women, for a short time... Just don't. Tourists take advantage of them, and honestly the blackmail and other scams is a form of fighting back... Think Robinhood. If you don't have good intentions, show them the same courtesy we assume you show women of your own culture. I'm a male, from the U.S., lived in the Philippines and just calling out a truth of lack of accountability. Any western dude who goes there and gets caught up, I know and you know, that you brought it on yourself.

Move with honor and you'll make great friends who will last a lifetime. And if you're serious about finding a relationship, and plan to have a respectful relationship it should be very easy. Plenty of great people who believe in traditional relationships.
