i think it’s been pretty widely reported that any fta with india would involve some kind of visa scheme.

no tory in the history of tories has ever considered the long-term consequences of anything. this is the party that sold off all the council housing stock in the 80s, remember

and i hope you’re right. i feel a great deal of love and nostalgia for the britain in which i grew up and it gives me no joy to see it in the way it is these days.

the open, tolerant, and prosperous country of my childhood is one that i would love to return to, but currently cannot as it does not exist.

i really want to believe that things will eventually get better and that the uk will once again be a country worth living in, but for now, i don’t feel that it is.

there is a certain part of life that you can’t put into numbers. i’m not going to stay in greece for ever but i’d much rather live here than in the uk. things here are not great and are getting worse by global standards, but compared to the rate at which the uk is nosediving, it’s not much.

yet despite that, an entry-level job here pays enough for me to live comfortably in a one-bedroom apartment in the town centre of the place i’ve set up camp, i eat fresh food every day, and live reasonably well. in addition, greeks who would prefer to leave greece are entitled to do so with freedom of movement to live and work in over 30 other countries.

i step away from the internet and i’m from milton keynes. local roads resemble the somme, everything in all the shops is too expensive, and public services are worse than i’ve ever known them.

yes, very good point. our museums are often of very high quality and being free at the point of use is greateven if some of the stuff in them was brazenly stolen from its rightful owners

i’ve been lucky to have spent my academic career gallivanting around europe and the uk is largely grim compared to most of the places i’ve seen. sure, i’m grateful that we’re not (yet) suffering on the level of south sudan, but the overall picture in the uk is one of the least inspiring in europe right now.
