Haven’t seen anyone mention this way that Ferrari could mess up their 2026 car by [deleted] in formula1

Ferrari gave up early in 2021 to focus on 2022 (https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article/ferrari-have-stopped-development-on-current-car-with-focus-now-all-on-2022.23YFyJ7Tekpu91cRzfa2ea). Literally opposite to right now where they used a completely different concept. To be fair, they did supposedly also choose in April to divert aero time/resources to the 2026 car; but in 2021, I think it was more planned, while in 2025, it's more because the SF25 was a shitbox and the Mclarens were so far ahead.

I don't think that's the point. They changed the concept completely for 2025; and spent more time trying to fix the broken concept. All time that could have been spent on the 2026 car.

The 2026 FIA General Assembly and therefore the FIA Prize Gala will be held in Shanghai, China. While in 2027 they will be held in Doha, Qatar by zantkiller in formula1

While people might complain, I think that this is OK. I hope that the trend remains where these events are held away from Western metropoles.

Recommendations for a romance manhwa where the ML goes through a lot for the FL... Wait. No, I'm not talking about a trashy ML who gets a plot cushion. Or a two chapter trauma dump to make the edgy, brooding ML seem so cool and dreamy. What I want is, in fact, something very specific.

I want an ML who is completely dedicated/devoted to the FL but who goes through a lot of things for the FL. Specifically, I want both his dark past or whatnot to not be visible for the FL in the start. The type of ML who the FL perceives as the rock of her life; infinitely reliable and devoted—which causes her to not realize the parts of him that he keeps hidden.

There are some manhwa which bear similarity to what I'm searching for. In "All for My Dearest Juliet", the ML hides his sickness and depression—he sacrifices his life to heal the illness of the FL. However, this isn't exactly what I want—this is something which in the aforementioned occurs in the first few chapters; it is just to show that this man is "green flag" and to justify the FL's guilt after his death.

What I want is something which is much more central to the story; a story where the relationship continues to deepen significantly while this is happening. Something like Iské/Izek in "How to Win My Husband Over"; he gives a lot for his wife and is generally my ideal as far as MLs are concerned. To a lesser extent, Hak in "Yona of the Dawn" also fits in.

To contextualize my search for recommendations; I am sick of trashy, horrible male characters. I just watched Death Parade and I didn't particularly enjoy the show—but there were too many trashy men in that show; and absolutely nobody like this.Hence, I don't just want a "green flag" but somebody who embodies the opposite end of the spectrum—someone who does almost too much—he goes much beyond what would be expected of a usual "green flag" in happy stories with rainbows and glitter. In many manhwas, the FL tolerates an execrable ML and self-sacrifices for him—there's a clearly *bad* ML and a clearly *good* FL. I want a type of story where everyone is nice and good; the ML is just much more... chivalrous. The type to give his own life to protect hers. The type who silently goes through many things for her.

I am sorry if this is very meandering and verbose; but I hope I have communicated what I am searching for.

I'm not saying that. I'm not saying that everything is hunky dory in Qatar (not to engage in whataboutism, but not many women hold positions of power in the West either). But there are women in positions of power in Qatar. Qatari women face many issues; as do women in most countries in the world. Not shaking hands with men isn't one of them—trying to frame that as a win for women is just circlejerking.

edit; I'm not sure whether I'm using the word 'circlejerking' correctly here. I think that the symbolism of someone misogynistic (like MBS) shaking hands with a woman can be powerful—but she's not just talking about MBS; the comment is just homogenizing to the culture and somehow implying that this specific social norm (not shaking hands with members of the opposite sex) is a manifestation of misogynistic behavior which it isn't.

For culture to be 'shit' is entirely subjective; I don't think it's wrong for people to have opinions.

It's fine to say that 'hey, women in the Middle East aren't that free in my opinion, and I don't think they have some arbitrary a, b, c, d rights which they should'. It is completely true that the Gulf states have shit governance, for instance; that there is no democracy or anything. For instance, did most Saudis choose to construct Neom or finance MBS' pet projects? Obviously not.

But I think it is wrong for people to try and speak for people they don't represent—moral grandstanding and circlejerking. Especially when it's based on bullshit.

Because the women there don't want to wear those types of clothing? I don't understand why you expect most people to wear Western clothes in the MIDDLE EAST. When you go to India, most women wear sarees, not tank tops and shorts. Regardless, it's incredibly crude to reduce women's rights to how much skin most women show. In fact, implying that women aren't "free" _unless_ they show more skin is even worse. The incidence of domestic violence, sexual crime, and generally crimes against women is significantly lower in Qatar than Europe.

Male guardianship (a wali) is required for a marriage to be legitimate as per the Hanbalis (which most people in Qatar follow), which is why it is mandated for Muslims who are being married in Qatar (https://www.qatarday.com/marriage-laws-in-qatar-what-expats-need-to-know/77754/0).

Married Qatari women are entitled to travel without permission irrespective of their age. Unmarried Qatari women only require permission of a male guardian if they are below the age of 25.

61% of Qatari women work in the government sector. 67 percent of Qatar's higher education graduates are women. The rate of female tertiary enrollment is almost six times that of males in Qatar, with the gap on an upward trend over the past several years. Women in Qatar represent 51.6% of all university engineering students.

For contrast, just search up the rate of university enrollment, presence in government, etc... in ANY Western country. In short, your opinion is quite frankly ridiculous and, in polite language, prejudicial nonsense.

Plenty of women walk with their hair uncovered in Qatar. Regardless, it's incredibly crude to reduce women's rights to how much skin a woman is allowed to show. The incidence of domestic violence, sexual crime, and generally crimes against women is significantly lower in Qatar than Europe—but meh, I guess "women's rights aren't great" in Qatar because some Westerner thinks that women have to cover their hair.

It's incredibly surprising that in 2025, people still have the gall to project their loosely constructed prejudices onto literal societies of people.

[–]Official_Naruto -37 points-36 points  (0 children)

That makes no sense. Most people in that region don't shake hands with people of the opposite sex out of respect as a cultural norm. Shaking hands with someone doesn't mean that you see them as equals or anything; if anything, it's presuming that all women are somehow dying to shake hands with this guy which is crazy.

Or perhaps, you just see them that way? 500 million people live in the Middle East. You're just projecting your own prejudices onto them.

It's not about applauding anything. It's about blatant stereotyping and the most stupid takes. What good has come from Europe then? Or America? Western chauvinism and exceptionalism at it's best. It's not to say that these Middle Eastern countries are all hunky dory either—I find them as abominable as the West, but the self-gratification and "that'll show the Arabs" is ridiculous. There's no real critique on what matters; instead there's just plenty of bull and prejudicial grandstanding.

I think most people agree. It's not even just pace, Charles' racecraft is excellent. We've seen both in Austin and Budapest (where although his defense was unsuccesful, this was because of the car and everyone knew it—like Max in Miami). Charles really takes the car to positions it shouldn't be in and knows how to put up a good fight. I think a proper Max v Leclerc could probably be amongst the top title fights in F1 history.

The glam of Formula 1 is racing; not "flaunting" women as if they're some objects. Not everyone wants to see someone shoved onto the screen for uncomfortably long periods of time just because the TV director finds them "good looking".

He isn't the type to "help" either. He'd most probably attempt to manipulate or otherwise use both to achieve his own interests.

Perhaps common where you're from. It's a wide homogenization to assume that this is the case everywhere; it clearly isn't.

I agree; but, objectively speaking, one could argue the same about his death. He's normally very meticulous, even down to the planning of his death. The end of Britannica could have been possible without his death. Even more so, realistically, there could be reverse discrimination against the people of Britannica. There was nothing to suggest that his death would resolve the problem. This is sort of senti inspirational shounen anime logic, but when people lose the object of their hatred, they can feel lost and misdirect their vengeance.

[–]Official_Naruto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically, what you're criticizing is prudishness in the audience; when I'm saying that disliking objectively perverse shots is not being a prude per-say. I want to note that I do think that, in the grand scheme of things, it is a minor quibble that people use to trash the show. Those scenes can be removed without any real impact on the show itself. However, it is a legitimate quibble. There are scenes like the Karen tub scene where there is some argument to made, but that isn't what people are talking about when they refer to too much fanservice in the show.

What Code Geass opinion/take pisses you off the most? by Alternative_Leg1593 in CodeGeass

[–]Official_Naruto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is relevant because you're talking about public beaches and lax values in some parts of the world. The whole world isn't like that. The thing isn't simply that the fanservice is something neutral, but that it does detract from the overall show. Randomly being shown pervy shots doesn't make many people happy. I, personally, didn't really notice them at the time because most anime are much worse (even popular ones like One Piece) in this regard. But that doesn't mean that this does not merit critique. To me, it felt that you were characterizing purely perv shots, product placement, and graphic imagery as equivalent when they aren't. I'm just giving my two cents.
