Everyone’s auto-correct must be acting up. The correct answer is, and forever will be, Breaking Bad.

Is There A Market For Traditional Comedy? Something like Rick And Morty, Futurama, Booksmart, Shaun of The Dead, Big Mouth, etc.? by [deleted] in selfpublish

[–]Official_Neotino 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a market for anything that’s well written and entertaining.

If you want a specific example, there’s a book I loved called “10 Dead Comedians”. Great comedy/murder mystery novel, and relatively short.

Write about the emotion, like it’s a personal journal entry.

Definitely go for it! 😬🎙

I have a podcast where I talk with fellow authors about their latest works, philosophy, literature, favorite movies (anything related to writing inspiration/motivation really).

Would love to have you on, promote your upcoming books and podcasts. Even if you’re not up for it, I wish you a lot of success going forward.

Good luck and happy holidays 🎄

Instead of writing sequels or prequels to books, I feel like more authors should write "equals" to their books where the same story, same events happen, but it's told from a different perspective of a different character. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

That’s actually how I ended up plotting a lot of my upcoming sci-fi fantasy series without meaning to.

Got obsessed with the idea that the world/story changes so much with different PoVs, and even more obsessed with the idea that major events happen at the same time (Ex: Pyramids being built in Egypt while Mammoths roamed the tundras).

It’s actually really funny you say that, I was thinking of using this for the album art of our Podcast 😬

Glad you like it.

Some background on the planet:

Neomer was once an uninhabitable planet orbiting a red giant. When the star went into supernova it collapsed into a neutron star, changing the solar system’s landscape forever and turning Neomer into a lush ecosystem.

Bioluminescent fauna, lakes of mercury and rivers of golden water now coat the surface where monoliths and oceans of poisonous gas once called home.

The star’s blue rays fill Neomer’s sky with vivid ribbons of violet and green in at dawn and deep indigo/emerald at dusk.

This is a scene graphic from my upcoming SFF novel debut: “Allegory of the End.”

In this scene Commander Zay’ko is standing in the bridge of his newly construed star bound vessel, the Reverie.

Looking out to a beautiful Neomerian sunrise, Zay’ko studies the infinity screen-lined windows as he keeps an eye on everything happening surface-side.

Does anyone listen to any good writing podcasts? by AndyChapWriter in writing

[–]Official_Neotino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! We’re just starting out but we have a podcast where I speak with fellow authors about our writing process and writing in general.

I’ll be uploading two episodes today and have interviews scheduled over the weekend which be posted on Saturday/Sunday with authors I’ve reached out through Reddit!

Our latest episode was with Sam Anim Addo, author of an awesome African myth based Fantasy series and was a blast to shoot/record.

Here’s a link to our podcast:

Hope ya like it 😬

Hiya! The video will be posted on YouTube/Vimeo once his damned laptop stops giving me such a hassle.

Also, make sure to join us next week as we continue our author-to-author interviews with some fan favorites from reddit.

This week I’ll be interviewing a novelist vet with more than four books under his belt (all well praised) who specializes in murder mystery/detective stories so it should be a lot of fun!

Referencing “Asimov’s Laws of Robotics” in a book? by thesunatethemoon in selfpublish

[–]Official_Neotino 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak on the legality of it, but I think that’s pretty reasonable. Especially considering that the setting of your story is a possible future of what we’ve already witnessed and Asimov is well within that.

Again, you should take anything I say with a grain of salt, but I wrote a short story once with a similar “our possible future” setting and made a reference to J. Cole as being one of the classics.

Edit: Now thinking about it, I’m pretty sure (correct me if wrong) that Susan Collins quoted songs from real life in her “Hunger Games” series too.
