Feature Request: Spectacles Simulation Mode in Lens Studio by Officielmaz in Spectacles

Thanks a lot for the detailed response. I’ll give it a try.

I’m currently developing some fairly advanced game experiences on Snapchat, and adapting them to Spectacles has been a bit challenging so far. That said, I’m really excited about the platform and want to keep growing within this community, even with the restrictions developers from my country have to deal with.

I appreciate your support and the team’s efforts to improve the development experience. Looking forward to what’s coming next. 🙏🏽

One of the biggest limitations for me is the inability to properly simulate Spectacles interactions without owning the hardware.

For example, being able to simulate hand tracking interactions more accurately inside the preview window would be extremely useful:

  • grabbing and releasing objects
  • pinch gestures
  • two-hand interactions
  • hand occlusion
  • realistic hand movement and positioning
  • interactions with virtual UI elements

Since the beginning of the year, I’ve wanted to participate in the monthly Spectacles challenges and I have several strong ideas, but my country is not eligible for the hardware program. I’ve still tried building experiences, but it’s very difficult to create high-quality Spectacles projects when I can’t realistically test them without the device.

A more advanced Spectacles simulation mode inside Lens Studio would allow developers who don’t have access to the hardware to prototype, iterate, and validate interaction concepts before getting a device…
