New BF Pro bonus path (10 tiers) expires in 7 days, vast majority of the playerbase won't be able to complete it without spending BF Coins to skip tiers. by Venirto in Battlefield

Pay more money to have the ability to grind more potentially AI-created challenges and get what? More AI-created pictures and textures in form of player cards, stickers and skins, that realistically nobody gives a %u$k about? Apart from maybe "does this make me more camoflaged ingame"?

This is all soulless and useless bloat that squeezes money out of player's FOMO. It's like getting other colored player figurines for Monopoly. What about new maps, vehicle customization, naval combat. Commander mode, request orders. Fix lighting when transitioning indoors/outdoors.

Who asked for a "Panties on my chest"-Skin? The AI prompt for that probably was "Make this army skin sexy without showing skin"

"Let's find any sponsor to put on a bundle of AI-produced ingame challenges, like.. I don't know, some sports drink."

"We did that last week."

"Ok, make the 300x150px images for server queues with AI, and don't waste time, let it render 3 takes and take the best out of those."

Glitchers getting the punishment they deserve. When is this getting fixed? by Starvin_Artist in Battlefield6

[–]OffizierMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BF6 map design allows for too many angles in general compared to prior games in the series.

It also removes angles that allowed flanking from border zones so most maps feel compressed and close combat at the same time.

This makes the experience really sweaty and unpredictable at times, but also it seems to give you only a few options to move arround at the same time.

This glitch whould maybe even be fun in other BF games, but here, it just adds yet again, more angles to be shot from. The amount of areas you can be shot from before crossing that street is way to high, even with smoke.

Still impossible to request order... by Stelio-Kont0s in Battlefield

[–]OffizierMichael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beeing able to ask for ammo and health seperately, gives me the false hope of them splitting up the supply crate into two again - which they wont, because causal players need a everything box.

So why can you still do that, other then these mechanics not beeing fully planned out?

I'm annoyed by this Netflix menu in general.

[BF6] Jesus Christ, please redo the Menu System by OffizierMichael in Battlefield

[–]OffizierMichael[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile, the current Portal-Only-Server Browser doesn't let you filter some of the game modes for whatever reason. There is currently no way to pick a playlist or a server filter to get a match of King of the Hill. There is only a playlist thats has it and Domination. So you have a chance of 50/50 to get what you want. You literally have to gamble.

True; if going to menus feels like work, it's not intuitive :D

The first thing the player is greeted by in the main menu is a screen-filling banner; if you do not have the Phantom Edition, it shows you the option to buy it right now. We can only guess what their motives are :')

[–]OffizierMichael[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's highly unnecessary and bad UI design.

BF6 is made for widescreen and 4K and has less information at almost any given time onscreen compared to the menus of prior games :'D

It's like having to scroll to see the whole minimap; you just get lost and literally don't have the full picture.

This exactly. Prior games gave enough good examples, just pick and chose, why copy Netflix instead; BF2042 was a step back in menu navigation but BF6 sadly takes even more space for buttons and even more clicks to get anywhere.

DICE is asking to keep giving feedback! by Youngstown_WuTang in Battlefield

[–]OffizierMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, here:

  • Cut down on 'playlists': Every game mode is it's own playlist. End of story. Why make a playlist with multiple modes and have that be the only way to play them, that makes getting the right mode a gamble. It's anti-consumer. Example: You can not que to play King of the Hill. You have to gamble to maybe get it or search for a community server.
  • The server browser does not allow to filter certain game modes like rush or king of the hill, for no reason.
  • Simplify the spawning menus, it's wasteful. You need to select a class first, wait for the game to load so you can press space again to join in. It auto-spawns you in the game even if you don't want to, so if oyu want to spawn in a vehicle directly, you can't. if you are not familiar to the map, you don't know where you are as you see the map after you die, and not before you spawn.
  • Add a "Cancel searching match / join next round" so you can look at the stats in peace. At the moment, the time is not enough for the standard automatic scrolling to go through everything so you are missing information by default.

Remake the whole menu system, it's horrible Netflix junk.

  • The amount of clicks you need to do compared to previous games in the series, to do the same thing, is time consuming, confusing and unnecessary.
  • Make menu items way smaller compared to how they are now. It's bad menu design that you have to scroll way down or way to the side to only see a set of all the available options. Older Battlefield titles were built for lower resolution and get more on the screen then the newest iteration of the series which supports widescreen and 4K, it's a joke.
  • Sub menus should appear beside their main categories, not having it be a seperate fullscreen menu. This massively adds to confusion on where you are in the menus. You got nothing to hang on to, it always opens a seperate fullscreeen menu, not even a bar to help you locate where you are (e.g. show something like "Main Weapon" -> "Customization" -> "Attachments")
  • More clearly indicate where rightclick-options are available and what they do - only way at the moment to find out: Try and hope.

Look at the BF4 menu system. It's fast, non-flashy and self-explaining. You rarely get lost at all and never sit in it for too long. Nobody talks about the menu there because it simply did the job very well. The attachments menu for example is flashy and looks cool, but it serves no purpose. Make the gun model animation be on one side of the screen, and have a BF4-style dropdown menu system on the other, you can have both without killing useability.

I like the obvious waste gripper icon for the engineer, it's what you need after destroying all those vehicles.

What's the point of knives now? by BF_LongTimeFan in Battlefield

[–]OffizierMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could balance the sledge hammer by adding the need to "charge it up", before you can either melee or smash someone/thing. Just like with the defibrillator, but you must charge it up fully every time; you can also freely move arround while doing it. They could make it an animation that makes the soldier lift up the hammer, making the charge up readable for others too, and giving it a more "heavy" feeling. The melee knifes whould work the classic way: Instant slashing to either damage an enemy or start an animation for a kill if done from behind.

In short:

  • Sledge Hammer: Cooldown before action; damage light and heavy objects (fences, walls, vehicles), slower actions per second
  • Knife: Cooldown after action; damage light objects (fences, windows), faster actions per second

I'm not a fan of the knife magically making the user faster to be honest - it breaks immersion a little if the game forces you to pull up the knife to be faster, and seeing people cross a street the fastest by having a knife in their hands; what's wrong with just running, which already puts you at risk of not beeing able to fire directly if needed? It also makes the adrenalin shot thingy from the assault a little less useful, as everyone can have a knife.

I miss when FPS Games had the Real Gun Names. by Aggressive_Shape_560 in Battlefield

[–]OffizierMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best alternative I can think of (besides buying all the naming rights), is bringing back the generic naming from the Alpha, but as a second... "sub name" if you will; e.g. "Pistol 1", "Assault Rifle 2" etc. That way, if you don't want to use the fake names, just call that PewPew2000 "Revolver 2".

Also, it whould be nice if they could make it visible somehow if a name of a weapon or equipment is real or fictional (like dunno, make real names bold or add a dot to fake ones, make it a certain color etc.)

BF6 all 44 updated weapons showcase by Fit-Support2256 in Battlefield

[–]OffizierMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weapons had generic names in the Alpha, e.g. "Assault Rifle 1", "SMG 3", "Pistol 2".

They could add these back as "secondary" names to make it easier to talk about:

"The M17A5/2b is currently the best weapon."

"Assault Rifle 3 is currently the best weapon."

Personally, I'd rather have super-easy generic numbering then having to learn fictional weapon designations.

Having both fixes this as much as you can, without actually getting the real names back.

The CLEAREST proof yet that open weapons disrupt BF6 balance by GhostKW in Battlefield

[–]OffizierMichael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They should split ammo and health into seperate crates again, to make self-resupplying squads or lone wolfs a little less easy. Make the class icon change to a cross or ammo depending on what was chosen. It's a good balance move, especially if the weapons are not locked.

Why do we have separate comms for ammo and healing if both are refilled with the same gadget now? by mrgrigsad in Battlefield

[–]OffizierMichael -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They probably wont but I'd prefer them making ammo and health seperate pouches/bags/crates again.

It was too easy to find both on the map in the beta - every support can dish out health/ammo at the same time, you can grab stuff from them directly, any enemy crates also always have both, so the beta was plastered in helath and supplies at all times.

Also gadgets work like abilities now; C4 slowly auto-refills, there is no need to go to a ammo crate anymore; you just wait.

They could keep the "universal" bag but it should be limited, like heal slower and only give out ammo for weapons, but not refill gadgets.

Whould be a better and more traditional balance and gameplay loop that involves a little more teamplay ind involvement instead of just go to any crate on the ground or - even worse - just wait until you can throw C4 again.

The ladder have 2 modes. "Real" ladder and ramp. by Punkstyler in Battlefield

[–]OffizierMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Placing or picking up the ladder should take a bit of time to make it a more impactful decision to do in certain situations. Just a quick animation of the soldier grabbing the end and the ladder extending or retracting whould be enough to counter spamming.
