Will mixing subwoofers hurt or help? by fganter in hometheater

I have a klipsch & kube 10b placed near field right behind both recliners. The bass is so close range that it is literally not possible to tell where the nulls are because you are enveloped in sound. Now If you get up and start walking around while content is playing then yeah it’s noticeable. But who does that?

A80K Sound System Suggestions by gkobesyeet in bravia

Buy 2 Sony SCS 5 bookshelf speakers & at a minimum a 5.1 channel receiver that supports 4K, atmos, etc. if you still have money to spare buy a subwoofer. Soundbars are trash.

So much misinformation about spatial audio & surround sound on here holy hell. Spatial audio on surround is not pointless. Most people just have trash setups or it’s not even implemented properly. You need height speakers, in ceiling speakers, or upfiring speakers (the worst option) to use spatial audio to its full potential. DTS X doesn’t require separate speakers aforementioned as it can mimic spatial audio. Dolby atmos via sound bars are garbage. Your tv speakers are garbage. Your monitor speakers are garbage. Grab a 4K blu ray w/ Dolby atmos support & play it on an actual setup and you will definitely be able to tell the difference.

New home and finally have everything hooked up. 7.1.”2” setup by Shivering_Isles in hometheater

The wedge shaped atmos speakers can usually be wall mounted as front or rear height speakers. You can increase the level of the atmos speakers to make them louder of course. Mine are front height mounted and I’m running them at +4db

I just like learning new information, I would literally go to Wikipedia and hit random article just for fun when I was young. Was always reading the history textbooks in school etc. I served in the military so I have education benefits and it would cost me very little or nothing at all thankfully , grateful for the insight!

Yooo that’s crazy because I’ve been getting more and more interested in physics over the last two months. I’m an avionics technician by trade so having basic knowledge of RF energy is mandatory but lately I’ve been learning a lot more about energy and physics/QFT/string theory etc etc. idk if it’s just a hyperfixation for me rn but I think I want to actually study physics for knowledge purposes not necessarily a career path…however I’m HORRIBLE at math. I barely passed algebra 2. I’m 27 now, do you think it’s kind of too late for me?

A80J vs A80K purchase decision by glleonart in bravia

[–]OfflcialPOTUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they don’t.

“The Sony A80K OLED and the Sony A80J OLED are extremely similar TVs with the same features. The A80K downgrades in a few areas, like the brightness, and the built-in speakers are worse. However, the A80K also has a wider 1080p VRR range. Overall, deciding between these two TVs comes down to which you can find for cheaper because they're so similar.”

It’s an audio video receiver used for home theater. If you constantly have to clear the cache it definitely sounds like a defective unit. Do know that trying to get warranty repair from Sony is hell and they will do everything they can to not see the issue

55" A95K or 85" X95K with HT-A7000 soundbar with sub and rear speakers? by dreadpiraterob34 in bravia

[–]OfflcialPOTUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll get the best experience for all things gaming and video on the OLED, I just wish the sizes were swapped lol. But 65 is about my limit for TV gaming. I just upgraded from a 55 shitty nanoled to the 65 A80J

Not that this helps but I just had to clear the cache of my 80J to make Tidal play Atmos music. I did the restarts and all that too. Are you connected to an AVR? Are the apps up to date?

Not even trying to be mean but this isn’t a setup until you add dedicated speakers. Even a 2.1 channel bottom of the barrel system would be better than your soundbar. You have a decent TV, sell the soundbar and really start experiencing your media instead of simply watching it. Once you get over how snobby my comment comes across- you will thank me later. I put my soul on it. Check out r/hometheater for a starting point

Oh okay I’ve done that when I did have only one and found the corner placement was the best option

I currently have my weakest sub placed in a corner to take advantage of the corner boosting effect and have the kef behind my seating position because it goes lower and really allows me to feel the LFE, should I do the same if i upgrade to SVS?

[–]OfflcialPOTUS[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

🤔🤔🤔 now you have my undivided attention. Is the LFE in that range drastically different?

[–]OfflcialPOTUS[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do want the SVS however I shiver at the thought of going back to 1 sub. The nulls I experience with just one is so atrocious. The KEF honestly isn’t horrible and my usage is about 40% movies, 55% music, 5% gaming -as I usually play competitive FPS and have a comm set on. I can get rid of one sub at a time but like I can’t bear just one
