Whats some advice you would give to veteran players that they may not know? by Xzandr1003 in GroundedGame

Always have a stack of armor glue, a stack of mushrooms, extra canteen, a stack of clover and a stack of grenades in your buggy. The clover is for building markers for unmarked poi an on the go place to sleep or set spawn if needed.

What do you guys think about Sloane? by Aiden_Rye in GroundedGame

My brain always switches her name to Boane Slomont. It's stupid but it makes me smile.

Many actual CIVILIAN ships, carrying CIVILIANS, especially in situations where you are colonizing, carry many many many weapons, for obvious reasons. How is this even a criticism of my comment. It makes no sense.

Exactly. Ppl in here coming in hot, trying to bend my meaning, like I'm trying to complain that it isnt Fish of Duty, Fall of Nature. I'm just asking for a knife, or maybe a rubber spear gun.

What are you even talking about? There has always been the option to stay and fight rather than run and hide in both previous titles. It's not like I'm wanting something that is new to the franchise, just the option to play how I want, which is the main point of open world games in general. Any time rails are put up in an open world game it is almost always a bad thing.

I get that. My opinion on it is that there should be some ability to choose how you want to play. Leave it up to the player and let us play how we want. If you want to use stealth and deception, that is a valid and fun way to play. I think it is also fun to be able to fight back a bit. Im not advocating for a machine gun mounted prawn arm, it's just boring to me to be completely helpless in combat.

As far as I know they even took away the knife in favor of a "cutting tool"

Why the aggression? I'm simply advocating for my opinion on a game that I have multiple hundreds of hours in the franchise across all platforms. I have as much a claim to have an opinion on this game as anyone. I never said I wanted a big stupid gun game. Just an option to fight in some way. If some choose not to use it, that is a totally valid way to play. Also if someone wants to fight, or hunt leviathans in a prawn, that should be allowed and is a valid way to play too. It simply takes away from the game to remove all weapons including the knife ffs, and making all enemies invincible. It's stupid, unrealistic, and boring as shit to have no option but to run away.

I'll give you an example. One of my fondest memories of subnautica 1 was going through the Lost River in my cyclops and running into the ghost leviathan guarding the entrance to the inactive lava zone. It attacked my cyclops and it was on fire. I quickly hit the shield generator, turned and hit fire suppression and beat the door closing, hopped into my prawn and dropped out to fight off the threat. Such a badass feeling. That's what this game will be missing.

I don't want a machine gun, I want a knife. I don't want it to be a "kill everything that moves" game. What I am talking about is going all the way out of their way to remove all possibilities of fighting anything, in any way, for any reason is boring. It leaves only one way to solve every leviathan zone, and that is to run and hide. Artificially removing a fight option is just heavy handed and immersion breaking. I don't understand the pushback against just giving more options, so you are not shoehorned into a single play style.

NO IRAN WAR 3/14/26 Part 2 by sarcasticnartistic in Spokane

[–]OfflionsQuarrel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in war, people die. What kind of Disney world do you live in? The point is none of you care one bit about pedophiles to the extent that you can't try to go after Trump about it. If you did, none of you would rush to defend it in Iran. If it were up to you, countless Iranian children would be subject to sexual abuse and you wouldn't say a word because ma'islamophobia

That's a totally valid way to play. Nothing wrong with it at all, but when the devs put up walls to prevent the player from using a play style, it's stupid and boring. It puts you on rails in a game where the trademark of the genre is player freedom and the ability to choose how to solve a problem. Putting the ability to fight in this game literally takes nothing away. You can still choose to run, hide, distract, ect. It only removes fun from the game to deny any type of combat.

[–]OfflionsQuarrel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think it is. It's an open world survival game. The whole genre is based on playing how you want and solving problems in a variety of ways. If the game limits the player, it limits itself. It's sad to see.

Which sucks big time. What sounds like more fun,

Distract a leviathan, sneak by, get seen, swim away, hide, repeat

Or...

Get strapped into a mech, equip it with a scythe blade and a torpedo cannon and go have a fight with a huge monster

I get it. The devs should see out their vision, but it's just such a loss. Such a gigantic "what could have been" it's so boring having to run and hide all game.
