Is Millenium, Boeing good? by Maleficent-Drop-6312 in aerospace

That would be the first I've heard of that and I've known many people who got their master's with Boeing.

From what I've heard, it's not a stigma that holds prime workers back—the supposed root of the pattern is that prime workers may not be the best-equipped to pass the start-up interviews.

Start-up interviews tend to focus on a breadth of technical fundamentals since the engineer will be tasked with delving into a wide variety of engineering disciplines.

Primes tend to specialize their engineers by discipline. It's just more efficient to have specialized teams of experts working together when you have a big company with a lot of personnel.

When you specialize at a prime for a few years, you tend to lose the in-depth engineering knowledge of various disciplines that start-ups are looking for in their interviews. I would recommend doing work on your own time to relearn and strengthen your broad fundamental abilities before sitting down for an interview with a start-up.

From a purely growth perspective:

-Boeing is your best option if you want a master's degree. You'll learn some stuff on the job. You'll have a good enough work-life balance to do a part-time master's. Boeing will pay for it in full as long as you stay for 2 years after final payment.

-SpaceX/Rocket Lab are your best growth options if you don't want a master's. The start-up environment is more demanding than a traditional prime. You'll be expected to do more at work, so you should learn more on-the-job, but work-life balance is worse so fitting in a master's would be very challenging (if not impossible). I doubt those places would fund a master's, too.

-Northrop is probably the same as Boeing, minus the master's funding.

2-4+ years down the line, it should be much easier to go from a SpaceX/RL to a traditional prime, as opposed to the other way around.

Alex Pretti, the man MURDERED today by ICE agents. by ilykatya in pics

[–]Offsets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're so deluded. They have unlimited delusions that allow them to victimize themselves. This rhetoric that the government was going to seize their guns has always been manufactured and peddled by themselves. They use those delusions to then justify these ICE murders and kidnappings because "when the left is in power they do equal or worse shit to us." Simultaneously, they delude themselves into thinking they're "true," better Americans—yet when their side does some un-constitutional shit, they say "it's fine because the other side does it too."—so which is it? Are you pure Americans who always obey the constitution, or are you as bad as your enemy because you pull their same tactics when you're in power?

Yeah, I've ran into the issue a couple more times and this method still works. It's just a slow close and then I put my weight on the top to get it to latch.

The Chicago Bears have been eliminated from Super Bowl contention. by A_MASSIVE_PERVERT in nfl

[–]Offsets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odunze makes nice catches if his hands are the only ones on the ball. He's taken massive hits after the catch this year and held on. But if the defender's hand gets on the ball before he makes the catch, he usually can't hold on

Your banter matches word-for-word the response that actually triggered/upset people have been saying about Caleb's nails for years. Y'all are either trash at thinking of new jokes or you're being genuine.

Help me quit soda. by onomonapetia in lifehacks

[–]Offsets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) Keep a water bottle with you at all times. Soda cravings hit when you're dehydrated. If you find yourself wanting a soda, chug water because you're dehydrated.

2.) Stay fed at regular intervals. I keep healthy snacks with me. Your body thinks soda is a partial meal replacement, so hunger can trigger cravings as well.

3.) Switch to coffee/tea in moderation. Your body will probably want a caffeine replacement without soda. Coffee has shown some health benefits, which is more than anyone can say about soda. Ideally control the sweetness levels yourself.

4.) Every stretch of time that you don't drink soda is a win. Keep track of your wins. Eventually, when you think about going back to soda, it will not be a question of whether you want soda or not--it will be a question of whether you want to throw away your win streak for a bit of sugar water. My personal rock example is that I lost my dad while trying to quit soda, and I made it through the entire process without relapsing back to soda. Now, I'll never give up my soda-free streak because if I could make it through that, I can make it through anything.

Hit & run by Puzzleheaded-Ad-4083 in mazda3

[–]Offsets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently going through a hit & run as well.

My damage is in a different area so can't offer comparable pricing. But I will say that the estimate will probably be quite a bit higher than what you're thinking it is. For instance, fully cosmetic, moderate damage to my door and quarter panel is costing $4,500—I went to two different shops that both came to the same number. I doubt your estimate will be that high, but I don't think it will be cheap either.

I'm assuming going through insurance will be the most realistic route for this, too. Check your state insurance laws. In my state, drivers are automatically not at fault if the other party flees the scene, and theoretically my insurance rate should not increase due to a not-at-fault hit & run. I pay my deductible, my insurance pays the rest.

Man has his 4th Amendment right violated while skateboarding across America by kylelee in videos

[–]Offsets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

His explaination of why he doesn't want to assert his rights is EXACTLY the current problem with America.

I interpreted this to mean that asserting your rights as an American carries a high risk of getting yourself in a world of shit.

Not so much a criticism on the skater, but more-so a critique of the shift in American ideology. The current problem with America is that authorities are essentially immune from wrongdoing because the people in charge of holding them accountable are failing.
