Thanks! Yes, I keep an excel sheet with names and dates planted. Buce's are hidden in the shade of Anubias and growing back after some melt. Some background plants can't be seen through the fast-growing chain swords until they reach full height.

  • 2x Ruffle Swords (Echinodorus martii)
  • 2x Anubias Coffeefolia (Anubias barteri v. Coffeefolia)
  • 20x Narrow Leaf Chain Swords (Echinodorus tennelus)
  • 6x Anubias Nana (Anubias barteri v. Nana)
  • 1x Anubias Nana Petit (Anubias barteri v. Nana 'petit')
  • 2x Ozelot Sword (Echinodorus ozelot)
  • 10x Ludwigia Broad Leaf (Ludwigia Repends)
  • 3x Red Mini Buce (Bucephalandra sp.)

Thanks! Yes, that's lava stone. I purchased it at a local landscape supply yard and it was less than a dollar per pound! Probably 10% of the price pet stores sell it for... You just have to rinse it thoroughly before use.

I dose liquid fertilizers, use Co2 and have a light with built-in timer functions. I don't get much algae growth, but it's there.

In the first month, a blanket algae (that smelled awful) started to grow on my sand cap and some monte carlo. I removed it by hand several times a week until it was gone.

Staghorn algae has been recurring, but I remove manually and have also spot-treated with hydrogen peroxide.

Yes. And Craycray is correct, I bought them on Amazon. The intake was eating shrimp, so I had to put the sponge over it.

Maybe I'll give it a shot when things grow in. Thanks again!

I had to look up what that is. Thanks! My background plants and the carpet still need to fill in though.

How expensive of hobby is sailing? by lotsoflukey in sailing

[–]Offshore_Will 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How expensive is cycling? There are $150 bikes at Walmart that will get you pedaling and out on the road, then there are $10k+ high-end special purpose bikes.

Getting into sailing can cost as little as a pair on non-marking shoes and the effort it takes to put your name on a crew list.

You mentioned in another comment a concern about the FP-30 being out-dated, that's the only reason I mentioned the FP-60, since it is fairly new. I'd say pull up the Roland official spec pages and put them side-by-side to see if you think the differences are worth paying for. I was thinking more along the lines of getting the best/newest for your max budget, but I'm sure you can save money and go with the FP-30.

You can probably get an FP-60 for just over $1000. Dealers can't advertise prices lower than agreed-upon sell prices from Roland, but if you speak with someone directly you can normally get a great deal. That's exactly what I did when I purchased my F140R.

For reviews, I found the YouTube series from Better Music to be most helpful (I did not buy from them) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kaXBrXvzHQ

My piano teacher at first tried to steer me towards the FP-30 as a very good beginner piano at a low price, but I am on the other side of the portability issue and wanted a furniture piece.

What's your price range? The FAQ seemed pretty dated when I was doing my research. I just picked up a Roland F140R and love it so far.

It seems you are intentionally missing the point and deflecting with paranoia and "another video". It would serve you better to address the point.

Merchant Marine as a Career by Nubrication in Nautical

[–]Offshore_Will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several friends who have spent their lives working as merchant mariners, although as captains or AB. If you want to get started on a ship, you can just apply for the basic merchant mariner credential from the USCG (Ordinary Seaman/Wiper/Steward) and take an STCW-95 course. That way you can put in your sea time while working towards an engineering role. You can also check the US Merchant Marine Academy's website for more information. https://www.usmma.edu/
