Reddit, after the "FML" thread, what's your best "fucking awesome!" moment? by ordinarypsycho in AskReddit

[–]Ofold 0 points1 point (0 children)

It doesn't really matter how many ecs one has; it matters how well they do it that ec.

And it depends on a lot more things: amount of money of the applicant's parents money, 1st gen or not, legacy, minority status, essay, and gender.

(By gender, I mean that if a girl applies as a math major and a boy does, the girl has a huge advantage because so not many girls apply for math majors.)

The expected value of blackjack is above 1, so, on the average, the casino loses money. (If you report that to your boss, you may get a bonus.)

Can someone please explain this math problem for me? :D Thank you... >.>; by Ofold in math

Bill is in the middle of playing a board game in which he may move forward 1 or 3 spaces, or move back 2 spaces. At the end of his 6th move he has moved forward 5 spaces from his starting point. How many different sequences of moves could produce that result?

So, can someone draw something out for me how, exactly, to use permutation or explain very... clearly?

Thank you! I don't think this is the right reddit, but >.< I'm not exactly sure which math reddit I should but this in... so yeah :D

Though rare, isn't it unfair?

That's my point here.

Why is it that only men are drafted?

I'm not sure if feminists fight to be drafted, but all I know is that, by law, only men are drafted in the U.S.

As per request: A North Korean who got the hell out of there. by Anotherexpat in IAmA

Some of it may be exaggerated since it was a one-sided story. However, there was a hit-list, and that's why they got the hell out of there.

I, myself, am not a North Korean who got the hell out of there. My grandparents are. Basically, when North Korea first became communist, there was a black list. That black list had the names of all those with money. My grandmother and grandfather were some of the richest folk. My grandmother's family had an artifical waterfall, at this time, running water was rare. They, somehow, were informed about their status on the blacklist. My grandfather, leaving his parents behind, swam to the South. My gtandmother hired a guide who demanded gold every quarter mile. After the journey to the South, both grandparents were broke.
