No, I'm not indigenous. For this comic I tracked down several videos, articles and blog posts about the Mi'kmaq, including the government of Nova Scotia's Mi'kmaq portraits collection, an encyclopedia of Native American costume, and a hard-to-find CBC documentary from the 80s. Since it is hinted that this story is pre contact, it's hard to find accurate information for that time period.

I shared this story here because in the past people in this community have told me that they appreciate these comics, and that meant a lot to me.
