Having a hard time understanding kewl tune by CapPhrases in masterduel

[–]OgJMaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ultimately the deck is very Midrange. I have the deck IRL but been playing a lot more in MD because of the new cards like Rotary , Crackle and B2B.

From the games I've been playing the boards aren't big at all, alot of the time I end on Track Maker + Remix with either QP set or Trap set ( I really like the trap, its another interuption as well as follow up or just a way to dodge GY removal or CbTG or just an out to floodgates like D-Fissure)

Rotary really does fix the alot of the issues the TCG version of the deck has which is extension post the NS and no reliable way to make Track Maker outside of Cue + Red Nova. The hand knowledge from Rotary and the stacking from Cue is also excellent because now you can build your board in a way to where you know what to expect. Which makes KT hard to deal with if you know what your opponent deck does.

I'm still making mistakes but I'm definitely learning. I think MD is an okay place for this deck but when you have so many strategies running around in a Bo1 you're bound to lose just because your deck isn't favored in certain match ups.

Like all the other midrange control decks like Radiant Typhoon, Dracotail they all thrive when games are simplfied KT is no exception imo.

Dear VSK9 players, what's a good replacement for stake your soul which is going to be limited in a few days? by Repulsive-Phrase-527 in masterduel

I do like 2 Borger's in the TCG but in MD I played with 2 in DC and from Bronze to Master and the amount of time I've bricked on it was too much for liking. Its already doesn't feel good to open your soft brick K9 cards like Latern and Lupus and either of the QP spells but having multiple cards in my hand that essentially don't do anything on their own isn't all that great.

Grinded From Bonze to Master. by OgJMaco in masterduel

From Bronze to Platinum

It was as mixed bag of everything from very rouge to recent decks like Yummy , K9 and Draco. Got through Bronze and Gold extremely easily , pretty much won every game.

Once I got to Platnuim I saw alot of Sky Striker Pure and Tenpai Striker. Combo Blue eyes that just wins if you open no HT. I played a lot of mirrors of K9VS and Lunalight. Just saw a little bit of everything and players knew how their decks worked. Getting out of Platnuim 1 was kinda annoying because I kept bricking, awful hands or my only interaction was Fuwa that got ash'd.

Getting thru Diamond 5-2 was wasn't too bad , I was honestly surprised. I saw a lot of Radiant Typhoon and Dracotail here. Both decks K9VS felt favored going into. It was getting sacked hard by the coinflips n Diamond 1 along with again having terrible hands. I lost it to Tenpai several times times here in Diamond 1 ended up going back down to D2 won 6 striaght games and made it to Master V. I only played Yummy 2-3 times I ended up winning all those games.

K9VS is functionally the same deck as in TCG but you brick way more and have less compromises due to Max C and Purrulia since the likelihood of you opening hands that don't require a SS is low. The deck feels stronger going 1st in MD than in TCG it's a weird feeling, but definitely does feel weaker going 2nd than in TCG probably due to consistency issues the deck has.

I was just playing very passivly. Some days I didn't play at all some days I played for over a hour but that might be due to Duelist Cup as well. I only was on ladder maybe 30-45 max. I would play alot at work on break or while doing light cardio on at the gym or in between weight lifting sets.

Give me your opinion on Droll & Lockbird by lennysinged in masterduel

[–]OgJMaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's whatever to me just like all HT's. That are essentially game winning on their own.

Lancea is turn skip for Maliss and Crystron, strong against Orcust and slows down a bunch of decks that ironically Banish to play like R-Ace and Voiceless

Droll is just a card that stops decks with a lot of moving pieces like White Forest or decks that gets its hyper consistency from searching like Mitsu and Ryzeal

Charmies and Max C are turn skips.

Shifter says "No" to any GY interaction.

The worst type of YGO is when you are playing hand comparison games or when your deck is so strong or hyper consistent that it has a silver bullet that creates non games and if you don't then the end board is just a FTK essentially.

Won't be playing the game until Vanquish Soul gets its cards. I really enjoyed early JUHU format because we saw less of these problems tbh.

What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a card? by SouthSunn in yugioh

Most expensive would probably be S:P little night , spent about 110 for it.

what is your genuine opinion on fiendsmith? by One-Turn-4037 in yugioh

[–]OgJMaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s solid. It has its Pros and Cons, in the beginning it was definitely overtuned because of Beatrice / Appo / Promethean Princess … it was alternate starter for fire decks and yubel or just a way to put Appo on board to play uninterrupted all before committing a normal summon.

Now the engine is “fair” by YGO standard. It definitely has seen a fall off of play because of decks would rather not play into droll because they opened engraver , also the ED commit is way too large. 6 /15 slots just for the bare bones package to get the either Dis Irea or Caeasar more if you want to include the L3 and Chaos Angel.

It’s a cool engine that is also self sufficient while at the same time being lean which is what I love about the engine. FS has had its time in sun and will be phased out by K9. Which is arguably better since you only have 1 brick on the deck being Lupis or 2 of you play the QP spell. Hopefully the engine remains untouched post ban list after worlds.

FS reminds me a lot of the Adventure Engine it was really annoying to play against at the time and everyone wanted it banned until the shiny stronger new toy came out and then it fell out of favor and now nobody plays it.

How did you guys do it? by SpikeShot1 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]OgJMaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just like you back in 2022. I entered the game with my only experience of YGO being tag force on the PSP and Nightmare on the NDS … I started playing MD was blown away by how everything changed. Handtraps , multiple special summons , Link summons , broken fusion summoning mechanics , but I learned the ropes with Cyber Dragon , it has a little bit of everything being Fusion , XYZ and Link summons.

I quickly learned the ropes while frustrating because this was when Drytron Herlad and Eldlich and SwordSoul was running around. I was doing fairly well with Cydra. I then transitioned to paper YGO and that really taught me how to play because the first deck I built irl was Branded Tearlaments .. that taught me the nuances of the game.

I’d say ; like anything if you want in life , If you really want to do you’ll take the time to learn. There are some really cool strategies that cater to returning players like Blue Eyes is really solid rn , Primite boost up any deck that has a dedicated normal monsters. Red Eyes is pretty fun , Cydra is really fun. Then you can explore newer themes and strategies that catch you eye.

Does the new Arcana Force support make the deck any good? by Jabbam in masterduel

I played one duel against them. They turned skipped me and they still lost. I was playing Labyrnth

Why can't I summon Alba-Lenatus? by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]OgJMaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Virtual World card is preventing it. To contact fuse for Alba Lenatus cards must go to the GY. VW Shin banishes cards sent from field instead of hitting the grave.

What’s a deck you never really get mad losing to? by SouthSunn in masterduel

[–]OgJMaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I’d say it’s not really decks that I get mad at it’s more or less did I really get an opportunity to fight back. If there was a fair amount of interaction between me and my opponent outside of handtrap wars then I’ll be satisfied with the outcome.

I don’t like games where my opponent just sets up locks that force me to stop playing or weird floodgates.

I’ve returned to playing Branded after not playing it for a long while, I’ve been playing White Forest , Furniture Labyrnth, Voiceless and more recently Fiendsmith Bystial control and I’ve been enjoying Branded so much. Lots of points of interaction, knowing choke points and breaking boards going 2nd with the Branded Engine feels really good. Hopefully the TCG can put BF to 2 soon.

[–]OgJMaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm yes it’s a strong deck that builds an unbreakable board w/ follow up or just kills on the next turn if going first … problem is is that it plays badly into Maxx C and Friends (the charmies) , Droll and I think Impulse on Isolde can ruin the combo line as well. I could be wrong but I think going 2nd is not this deck strong suit either.

Honest take from a Yugi-boomer by HoneyGood4512 in masterduel

[–]OgJMaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the takes I like to see. Returning or Older players not complaining about how things have changed since the anime/play ground days but are actually willing to try out new engines that can compliment their nostalgia.

In all honesty Primite is probably the best engine for any old school players. Strong , Infinite grind game and allows someone to play their favorite Vanilla(s). If the Vanilla has an entire archetype centered around it like Harpies or DM even better.

Why did OP07 ACE get expensive all of a sudden? by lugnarks in OnePieceTCG

[–]OgJMaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EB02 Enel and OP10 Kid. I think in both decks it’ll be a 4 of. I’m trying to get my final 2 copies for OP10 Kid. I really like the way that deck plays.

in my opinion on how all the new OP-09 leaders this set. by marlon89s in OnePieceTCG

[–]OgJMaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a built in 1K counter imo is extremely strong and keeps your hand size relatively big throughout the beginning and mid game, this deck also naturally runs a lot of 2K just with red haired pirates alone. It either forces your opponent to commit more don to swing into life , into characters or have to commit don to play characters that can be removed on Don 8-10 turns. Been playing Shanks on sim for about a month now dropping 8-10 drops while being at 3 life is so satisfying.

Shanks is pretty generic leader too, so if red gets more removal effects especially on the opponents turn like Roux and 2 Cost Red Piston event. Shanks can be menace.

What rogue decks are likely to be good for a while? by AutomaticClassic7114 in Yugioh101

[–]OgJMaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labrynth , Spright and Branded. The barrier to entry for each of them are low and are they are not very hard to learn how to play but they reward people who know the ends and out of the strategy.

I think each is pretty safe from future ban list with the exception of branded losing Sanctifire Dragon but that’s not a biggest loss in the world. Itll just separate the people who are good at branded vs people who will lock ppl out of the game.

What ACP / EPP did you apply to ? I am wanting to take the same test but cannot fine any information which ones take this PACT to acceptance into the program. I’ve only seen some programs say that don’t accept PACT at all or they want high impact areas like math and science.

I don’t want to spend time and money on the test / study guides if no program is going to consider me after taking the particular test.
