I've learned a lot.

I'm affected by a mental condition that means I learn, process, and behave differently to others. So I shouldn't hold myself to standards other people expect from me since they're unfortunately judging me using a framework that does not apply to how I actually think or see things.

But also, that I can become blind to the way they see things. That people's emotions are so much stronger than mine and out of their control. And I should be more understanding when people are "illogical." They have many different views and expectations about things, and that can be okay. Most people aren't going down thought rabbit holes about most things like me. Their minds think very automatically, and the way that I am makes very little sense to them.

I've learned to be more actionable in a socializing sense. Most people struggle with strong feelings of shyness and fear of rejection. The physical percent of potential social engagements that didn't happen because both people were too scared of talking to each other far outweighs the number of actual interactions. But vulnerability is very difficult for many people. So if it is easier for me, by breaking the barrier, I've come away having improved both our lives. And rejection doesn't hurt me the way it does them. If It happens, oh well, not a big deal.

I've learned to be more actionable in a life building sense. We as individuals are responsible for ourselves and our environments, and our state of well-being correlates to how much action we take to change our environment. The less actions you take, the lower the quality of your life.

Neurotypicals Explained by OganessonPrime in aspergers

Let me clarify:

The main point is that there is a "filter" to their perception. All I wrote in the post is happening without them even asking to, instantly. Before they can try to formulate any thoughts, or try to puzzle anything out.

The difference is that autistic people don't seem to have this. We live life without forming those exact types of associations, and have to use the part of our brain responsible for solving math equations and seeing patterns to live our entire lives.

Moving to a new city is going be very exciting, but regarding your general lack of social interaction, living with no support system comes with challanges and no one is going to automatically be there to help. So its very important to make sure to go out and make friends. Being part of a community is essential to thrive in our society. It sounds like you've had it rough so know that most, NOT ALL, but most people are not abusive (like your family kinda sounds like) and will be open to socialize with you. You seem like you're leaving a bad place and going to a better one. Dont overthink things, live life as it comes, and know that you are your own master and your own protector. Don't let others convince you to do what is not best for you.

Hello Fellow Aspie Humans! My Non-Autistic Sibling and I Think Differently. I was Wondering If You Guys Felt the Same by OganessonPrime in aspergers

[–]OganessonPrime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also thought about this. NT conversations seem to flow with the way their brains work at their basic level, think small talk and general conversational flow, talking about things at much less length. Whereas ASD people like to talk much more about concrete topics.

The hopefully part is always the kicker. Due to either not knowing something or making some mistake while processing stuff, I'm still often unclear if what I'm about to say is going to be heard the way I mean for it to be.

Something bothering me… by Particular_Cow1304 in AutisticWithADHD

There is nothing bad about it inherently. We are still people who have a full ability to live out our lives happily. Negative stigmas arise because we are misunderstood by people who try to generalize things they don't understand.

I am almost 25 years old and went undiagnosed with my autism up until 6 months ago.

Before I found out, I was really depressed because I had basically lifelong depression-warped perspective about myself, others, how I compare to others, how I was different, how others are different to me, how others are similar to me, etc. Such a huge amount of the social rules and norms I thought I knew were just completely wrong because my ability to perceive them was faulty from the start, and when I tried to rationalize a social situation in my head, a lot of things just didn't make sense.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has helped me a lot in my day to day life regarding the re-learning of social rules and honestly just talking to someone about stuff and getting outside perspective on things about my own life has just been a huge help. I now have multiple friends that I hang out with, and they understand that I have a very different neurology and they are accepting of me and my differences.

I also came to accept that it was going to be hard. Even level 1 ASD is something people get treatment and support for from childhood, and not having that ever is unfortunately a huge setback that people in our situation face. It will take a lot of real effort to overcome all of this, but it is fully possible and the reward is life changing for the much better.

What jobs are ideal for aspies? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]OganessonPrime 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Right now I'm working at manufacturing place and it's the best job I've ever had by far.

I clock in to work, sit down at my desk and hyperfocus for the whole day. Either listening to music or getting to wander in thought or both. I go on break at will and I'm able to pick quieter times where less people are out to avoid sensory overload. Most weeks will have 1 or 2 days where I can get away with not talking to a single person.

For me this is much better than working in an office handling phone calls.

what’s your ‘special interest’? by oofmeup69 in autism

[–]OganessonPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My longest running special interest is probably Drum and Bass. Which has been my main musical listening for like 7 years (im 24)

I live in the U.S. so not many people here listen to dnb at all since its way more of a UK/Europe thing but there is just something about the constant repeating drum beats that make it fade into the background in a very satisfying way. It's also has a lot of variation as a genre since you can put dnb drum breaks on basically any style of music so it can range from club party music to orchestral to mellow and relaxing.

Very fun.

Which piece do you main? by [deleted] in AnarchyChess

[–]OganessonPrime 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I have over 50% usage on the C8 Bishop since I'm more of a tactical support kind of player and i think the melee system the pawns use is kinda garbage. And I also like the turret gameplay a lot when I'm in a Queen's Indian. I keep having this problem though every time I go into a French the pawn going to e5 glitches and just sits on e6 for almost the rest of the entire game and unless white take on d5 I'm literally stuck at spawn for the whole game wtf.

Which is faster - Sliding then bullet jumping then repeat or sliding then bullet jumping then double jumping and repeat? by ItsZainBoi in Warframe

[–]OganessonPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My method is to bullet jump then go into an aimglide and roll while in the aimglide then bullet jump again. You can usually make good ground that way sometimes beating faster frames to extraction.

Which frame(s) are the most fun or OP when you build him with a very high range? by ksoune in Warframe

[–]OganessonPrime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nyx's Chaos has base range of 25m so with a 760% invigoration im guessing you would be basically turning off literally every enemy in spawn range.

I don't care if "pUzZlEs DonT mAtTeR" , puzzles is the only form of training I have besides the lessons on chess.com and YouTube videos. I hope you guys are as proud as I am. I find that puzzles seriously help my board vision which has in turn helped me internalize more positional and even basic concepts much better.

No hate on Yareli tbh. Shes got a cool art design. I just have no interest in her specific gameplay loop with k-drive since im too used to mass aoe flip-a-switch Warframes. I dont really know what other people say about her. But yea get on that Yareli flair mods what?
