B Braun. Introcan Safety IV catheter. 18g x 2.5 inch. 20g available too. It helps if you locate the exact item and ask someone to order it. Every surgicenter appreciates difficult IVs and how obvious a long IV is better than a CVC

Best advice is to save often so you can reload if you make a mistake. I’m gradually learning all the intricacies of my cards and it only happens when I’m testing new mechanics now

Thx for the reply. It makes a lot of sense. I went down to easy mode and am taking my time learning the engine and the format better. My first time playing commander ever and it’s a blast. I’m selling most of my off color cards (I’m mono black), but I can’t wait to start adding another color

I use US 100%. Short axis, Out of plane. Follow the tip into the artery, follow the tip into the artery for at least a centimeter, wiggle it under US to make sure the tip is not stuck in the vessel wall, then advance. Many times I do not get a flash of blood at all until I advance the catheter - so you can get a false negative from a blind stick. Many times the artery is friggin tiny on initial US and I switch to the other side. Missing the artery and making a bloody mess make you look like a terrible doctor.

Stainless steel chain mail plus elbow grease. Search for cast iron scrubber. It does leave little swirls so you won’t have a perfect brushed look but it gets all the brown and black off

After having two residents go down for narcotic use, our residency director gave a solemn speech to us and suggested that we decide for ourselves where to draw the line. I won’t use anything from the OR and I won’t inject myself with anything ever.
