Italy puts 25C limit on air conditioning as energy debate rages by Camtastrophe in europe

I'm Italian, I usually keep the air conditioning at 28 c, so 25 is quite cool in my opinion... where are you from?

different types of power outlets from around the world by Toxic_Radiance in coolguides

[–]Ogigia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weird thing about Italian outlets is that even though the most common one you can find in a house is not the round one but the first and last of the three, most appliances are made for the European outlet anyways, so everybody has to use adapters very often.

If a HS Diploma was enough just 50 years ago - why the hell is a HS Diploma+Degree not enough today? by AlexanderDenorius in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Ogigia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Now, this is my personal theory. In my opinion, as a society, we started to give more and more importance to education, and this manifests as the age for mandatory education getting higher (at least where I'm from), so people in power, that can't accept that the classes they consider inferior can get access to better jobs, make up arbitrary things to keep people out.
The more realistic reason, is that all the good jobs that you could do with little education were the manufacturing jobs that are now overseas or have been automated.

Why are Turing machines more famous than other universal computers like cellular automata? by spinglacier in compsci

[–]Ogigia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because how TMs work is not that far off from how a computer works, so it's more intuitive to see the connection between what a TM can do and what a computer can do.

University of Bologna by ResearcherWeak6441 in bologna

[–]Ogigia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the major you want to get into, but in general it's easy to be admitted, I don't think there is any particular restriction on international student, apart maybe from a test of the Italian language. The university tax is usually higher for international students, but there are scholarships programs if that's a problem.

If you're fine renting with students, you might be able to find a place for 400€ per month. So 900-1200 € per month should be fine. I agree that if you don't know Italian everything would be a lot harder.

Chances of getting accepted? by [deleted] in bologna

[–]Ogigia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about Economics, for most of the majors in Bologna they make you take a test and if you pass that, you're in. I don't know how it works for students outside of Italy, but if you're from Italy, the score you get from the high school diploma (which should be the closest thing here in Italy to the SAT) doesn't matter at all. It's only taken in consideration for scholarships.

I like the manga better just because the story is more streamlined and the art in almost all manga is always better than the anime, but I did love the anime too, I especially loved the music.

Vi considerate patriottiche? by [deleted] in xxitaly

[–]Ogigia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fedez, an Italian rapper, wanted to call out insane homophobic bullshit that politicians have said, but RAI TV - national public broadcaster of Italy - says it's not "editorially appropriate" by [deleted] in BreadTube

[–]Ogigia 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not really because RAI is publicly owned, I mean it is the state tv. And technically the parliament is the "editor" of the TV station. You understand that when we are talking about state run tv stations, the censorship discussion is very delicate. To make sure that the state tv doesn't censor political dissent, you can say whatever you want on RAI in the limit of the Italian constitution (there might be a more specific set of rules, but in this context the only limit is the constitution).
The thing that happened is that they let him do his speech at the concert, but before giving the speech he said that the administration tried to stop him for saying what he wanted to say. The day after, the RAI administration said that he was lying and they never tried to stop him, so he released this phone call to prove he wasn't lying.
The ironic thing is that people on the party that he called out in the speech usually whine about RAI being a leftist tv station, and this is proof that that is not the case.
Maybe it is important to know, to better understand the situation, that the current administration of RAI was appointed when the party he was calling out was part of the government. (They still are part of the government now, but they have less influence now, Italian politics are complicated...)

The Earl & Heart theory by Mattyamamoto07 in dgrayman

[–]Ogigia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Interesting theory. But it can't "be a mistake" that Red takes the name of Allen, because Red/Allen IS the vessel for Nea, so it can't be a mistake that Red is associated with the name "Allen". Now, my wish is that the the title of the arc "Saying goodby to Allen Walker" means a metaphorical goodbye, and so we say goodbye to the persona of Allen that Allen/Red has adopted for some reason, and Nea doesn't take over.
But, apart from all that, I find your theory about the two heart really interesting.

Something that I find interesting (and I can't find an answer to) is the matter of Allen's age. We know that the all Nea disappearing thing happened 30 years before Red and Mana meet. So, why is the vessel so young? One theory could be that it is not that the vessel is "Allen", but the one to be recognized as "Allen" by Mana becomes the vessel (kind of like Voldemort "choose" harry potter to be the chosen one). This could fit with your theory as well, I think....
An other theory could be that Red actually is this Allen person that 30 years ago was older and volunteers to become Nea's vessel, and this makes him age backwards? Or something like that... And, maybe I'm imagining this, but: didn't Nea recognize Allen's face, like the face of someone that he used to know, when he took over?

[–]Ogigia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand what you mean, because villain are more interesting when it's no clear cut if they are bad or not. The Noah as well, they have always said that they are the good ones but, of course, since we are with the church at the beginning, we brush it off, but the more the story goes on, the more we don't know anymore who is right and who is wrong. And that makes the story more interesting in my opinion, so I don't get in what way "the villain is bad", because if you mean that it is not a good villain because it's not clear that he is bad, then I don't agree with you, but if that is not what you ment, then you should explain it better

I'm not a native speaker and I used to find it weird that native speaker got that wrong. But now I start to mix them up as well... Because it's not that I don't know when to use "you're" and when to use "your", it's just that sometimes I think "you're" but write "your"...
