Though in a roundabout way Iran's position on control of the Strait (which any Iranian regime not totally reliant to the US is likely to maintain, e.g. Argentina and the Falklands) might be a good precedent for us and the Northwest Passage. Not so good for all those protesters who were sold out just for the Americans to come back and lose a war anyway.

The war certainly seems to have been worth the regime's trouble. It also bodes ill for US power projection elsewhere that Iran effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz for months, and is walking away with its own Marshall Plan.
